Haha that picture is very disturbing. Merely glancing at it makes me cringe. Anyway, I love all of the people you listed. They are all great.
I've heard that John Lennon was also a poor father. You know, sometimes when you try to father the entire world, one's own children can become somewhat of an afterthought. Perhaps that's why.
I noticed that some people just don't want to consider anyone better than themselves. Freewheelin Franklin went down the list and denounced everyone, L.A.Matthews, said he was the greatest and "God", and BraveSirRuben contended with him for the title. So............. Which of the three above, who were offended that they weren't on the original list, is actually the greatest.? I really can't decide which, they are all so humble and such selfless individuals, but I am glad they pointed out that the original list was a bit limited, and that we really could have looked further than the obvious standouts for truly inspiring and "great" people in this world.....And that we really needn't look any further than Hip Forums for true saints and men of outstanding and notable characteristics.
I'm going to take that as a point for me. L.A.Matthews = 1 BraveSirRubin = 0 Freewheelin Franklin = 0 I am officially GOD!
Good video. I actually really enjoyed it, and it brought up some interesting points. I have to agree with you too, because to say who the greatest person is is totally naive. The greatest person in the world should be yourself, because that's the only person you know best to make a judgment. We're all human and we all have our flaws.
I think it's beautiful that you have five daughters! How blessed Although I have nothing but love for all the people on the list, I am going to have to agree that Mother Theresa is pretty spectacular. She was a true example of the nurturing qualities of mothers, and how all humans can show that kind of warmth and love, to all brothers and sisters (even if they are not blood related). ...Gandhi is a very close second in my books though. The things that man stood for... the words he spoke... his soul brings tears of joy to my eyes. I hope you are all well, peace energy your way! - Unlearn
fuck that list. Gandhi was a racist, and don't get me started on mother teresa... she was a hundred times worse than bush! just a fuckin pawn who stole money and left people to suffer and die.
Whoa, WillyWonka, I'm really sorry you feel that way. I personally, have never been exposed to any information supporting either of those claims, but I am always up for learning all sides of any story! Care to enlighten us by sharing what you are basing your views on? I hope so In peace, brother. - Unlearn
about the gandhi being a racist thing, well, there is nothing to explain, he hated black africans. and mother teresa... she accepted money to help the dying. insted of helping the dying, she gave the money to "the church". she believed that the way to heaven was through suffering, and thats exactly what she let the dying people do... suffer and die. she was a figure head, who posed for pictures with famous people for publicity. she brought in alot of donations for the church, while the people the money was really for, died in pain. 50 million dollers, for the dying, spent on the church. but really, these dying people didn't need any help, they where suffering, which is great, because they would now get into heaven now right?
"I noticed that some people just don't want to consider anyone better than themselves." Uh huh. Don't sprain your arm patting yourself on the back. You picked the one who displayed your own self-perceived qualities.
I admire mothers because husbands sit around expecting to be kings when coming home and adding to the tasks of the woman that has to be home all day disciplining kids cooking cleaning, helping with homework, work that is never done. And...no one acknowledges them as heroes.
I did pick Mother Theresa because I could strongly identify with a woman, and yes, I do consider myself having the qualities to selflessly care for another human being. I spent years caring and nurturing 5 little human beings, tending to their needs day and night with patience and love. Through sickness (where bodily fluids ran amuck), up nights and at all hours, with infants constant needs and relentless demands. This is probably "the most difficult job in the world", and I did a superior and admirable job, and am proud, and so I did pat myself on the back (not so much to sprain my arm), and don't really mind bragging that in a world where good parenting is lacking, and in such need, I am one of the greatest mothers, and don't mind saying so.
There is so much about your posts, A.B.E., that makes me smile. You're wonderful! Peace energy your way, - Unlearn
I know this is going away from the original point of the thread, but i thought id stuck up for gandhi from wikipedia: Some have interpreted statements made by Gandhi as offensive to Black South Africans, particularly, his use of the word "kaffir," which today is considered a derogatory term. It is worth noting, however, that during Gandhi's time, it had a different connotation than its present-day usage. Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela is an advocate of Gandhi, despite efforts in 2003 on the part of Gandhi's critics to prevent the unveiling of a statue of Gandhi in Johannesburg.[51] Indeed, Mandela recently took part in the 29 January - 30 January 2007 conference in New Delhi which marked the 100th anniversary of Gandhi's introduction of satyagraha in South Africa Watching that video though, so I'll reserve my judgement
