Enough of Misery Rock, what are the songs that make you smile?
    What would you recommend?

    Some of my fav's are:

    Higher and Higher, Jackie Wilson
Up On The Roof, The Drifters
    Dreadlock Holiday, 10cc
Baby it's Cold Outside, Tom Jones & Catatonia
Closer to Fine, The Indigo Girls
...and (embarrassingly) the theme from Wonder Woman

Also like the whole of Primal Scream's "Screamadelica" album, always gets me jiggy!

Good question. You're quite right about "Screamadelica" that's some happy shit.

Some of my own would no doubt include:

Love - You Set The Scene
The Chemical Brothers - The Sunshine Underground
Toots & The Maytals - Monkey Man
Hyper Kinako - Toyko International Registration Office
The Beta Band - She's The One

It's fun just thinking about them :)

Once song that always puts a smile on my face, is Lie in our graves by Dave Matthews. It's so upbeat and carefree, it always gets me going.

Bruce Springsteen (this will be a fucking long list ):
    Rosalita
    Jungleland
Quarter To Three - yeah, it's a cover, but hot damn is it good.
New York City Serenade (no live version can do the song justice, so no youtube)
    Thunder Road

Sweat by The Inner Circle...I was just barely leaving primary school when this came out oh fuck I feel old :(
Here's To You by Of A Revolution...no video for this one. Shame.
Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison
Honey Just Allow Me One More Chance by Bob Dylan
Ooo...there's a bluegrass style cover of Turn Turn Turn (originally by The Byrds) done by...Hayseed Dixie, I think. That is the perfect summer song, and every time I hear it, it feels like I'm on a train looking out of the window at a vast countryside rushing past.

Also, maybe it's just the bloke part of me, but I cannot help but grin when I watch this. Five golden manbabies!! :D

the theme from Brazil, sung by Geoff Muldaur.

You can find it among many other goodies on White Bicycles, a compilation of songs produced by the legendary Joe Boyd.
