http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/gate/archive/2007/05/02/notes050207.DTL&nl=fix I'm talking about, say, energy-efficient light bulbs. I'm looking at organic foods going mainstream. I mean chemical-free cleaning products widely available at Target and I'm talking saving the whales and protecting the dolphins and I mean yoga studios flourishing in every small town, giant boxes of organic cereal at Costco and non-phthalates dildos at Good Vibes and the Toyota Prius becoming the nation's oddest status symbol. You know, good things. Look around: we have entire industries devoted to recycled paper, a new generation of cheap solar-power technology and an Oscar for "An Inconvenient Truth" and even the soulless corporate monsters over at famously heartless joints like Wal-Mart are now claiming that they really, really care about saving the environment because, well, "it's the right thing to do" (read: It's purely economic and all about their bottom line because if they don't start caring they'll soon be totally screwed on manufacturing and shipping costs at/from all their brutal Chinese sweatshops). There is but one conclusion you can draw from the astonishing (albeit fitful, bittersweet) pro-environment sea change now happening in the culture and (reluctantly, nervously) in the halls of power in D.C., one thing we must all acknowledge in our wary, jaded, globally warmed universe: The hippies had it right all along. Oh yes they did. ...more
I recently decided that i'm going to stop eating any foods that are not organic as well. But I'm taking it slowly, eating less and less non organic foods every day. It's a great choice, it's healthy, and it's eco-friendly. I definitely encourage you to do the same =]
you know, you've just put a smile on my face cuz i think there is a chance that all this eco/fair trade stuff really is going to develop on and on and is getting big. which is a great development, because it means we can create a more beautiful world after all and not just that, it already is happening.
absolutley 100% truth you speak! the day that all the government and democracy bull crap, all the "Free-Market" spew is gone, is the day that their will be beautiful flowing land of brightly colored greens and sea's filled clear blue's covering the creation mother earth. even in the 1800's man, the hippies had it. for god's sake, god was a hippie! the creator of our fellow brothers and sisters of the land we call our home, he knew what actual free-speech was and what free-will is! anyways.... i just ramble on certain topics your right, hippies had the right idea the whole time, but got treated for the brains that buisnessman and women can never learn.
I agree I think that the hippies and "naturalists" had it right along. Its sad that it has taken people to recognize an eco-friendly lifestyle as a legitmate way to take care of our mother earth. After we only have one world and it your job to take care of it so that future generations have a nice healthy earth to live on. And hopefuly the government will fully realize its whole part in this and DO SOMETHING meaningful to save the earth.
i can“t proof god exists and it is pretty irrelevant to discuss it, because most of the time people with different ideas about god aren't willing to accept any other idea of god than the ideas they have in their mind. and that certainly is the case now!! i believe that if god exists and is an awesome due, it must be a hippie and no one is gonna talk off that idea
