Im about to purchase my light setup and was wondering which I should go with? Im planning on having 4-6 plants. Also about what size reflector should I be looking at? Oh this will all be soil grown if that matters. Thanks!
4-6 plants should be able to stay in a 4x4 area. I'd go w/ the 600. Because you'll enjoy growing so much, you'll want more plants !!!
Are you restricted by height in anyway, also where are you planning on growing because a 600w will give off so much more heat than the 400w
I have about 6ft high to work with and its going to be in one of those outdoor sheds made by rubbermaid (I think)
I know this is jacking the tread, but is your rubbermaid shed going to give a light tright room for flowering ? go inside and close all openings and see if any light is leaking in. if it is then you will have to fix ever leak or you can flower your plants
One step ahead of you......the shed is pretty light tight.......there were some leaks so for good measure i am spraying all the seams with foam in a can.
What are you going to be doing for ventilation and fresh air for the plants, if the room is light tight, chances are its as near as dammit air tight, so putting any kind of hps in there is going to change it into an oven, need to think of a way to enough fresh air in and the heat out and manage to keep it all circulating on the inside. If you can do that then you can go for the 600w, 1 ft beneath a 600w hps the heat coming off is somewhere around 110-130
You do realize, that outdoor sheds are not considered part of your "residence" and can be searched w/out a warrant right? Anything suspicious can allow a LEO to search it. E.g. plastic shed w/ ventiliation holes, humming lights, rain/snow that melts/evaporates off the roof fast, smells, you going into it 5x a day and seen by neighbors....
Well the shed in in a fenced in yard with two large dogs so I dont think anyone will be getting close enough to the smell. The shed is also heavily covered with large oak trees and cannot be seen from up above. In fact the area I have it set up it is barley visible from the street and the only way anyone would see me going in and out is if they were in the back yard with me. Keep in mind this is not a track home so my neighbors arnt that close.....the closest one is 100+ ft away with trees/shrubs in between.
to remove heat put in floor vents, it will help , oh have a story just in case someone should ask and good-luck
Just make sure you lock the shit up nice and tight when your not working inside. I don't think anyone will really think anything of it, if your nervous just lean some garden tools up against the side of it or something.
How you getting electricity to the shed ? An extension cord is a bad idea for a host of reasons, dogs and electrocution come to mind right off the bat. What about meter readers and the like in your backyard ? A humming Rubbermaid shed would make a lot of people wonder wtf is going on in there. If you make 5 trips a day for 90 days, those 450 trips are going to wear a big obvious path to the shed. Will the sunlight in July turn the shed into an uncoolable sauna, unless of course you open the doors (very bad idea). Sorry to be such a downer, but you might want to think this through a bit more.
