    Hey,
Y'all should try mock meats like fake hamburgers and 'chik'n patties' - companies like Boca, GardenBurger, Morning Star Farms, etc. make great things. Plus a lot of restaurants like Java Green, Sunflower, and SoulVeg (all in DC area) have great mock meats that taste the same.
But they are much healthier and they're cruelty free! ;)

i personally would rather not eat mock meats that taste like dead animals often just cuz i've been vegan for well over 3 years and there's food out there that's a lot better and more fun to make, but for someone who wants to get that taste it's not a bad way to eat healthier. plus you're getting the same taste without killin the animal - most people say that they won't go veg cuz they like the taste of meat too much, so...
and the one's from the freezer in stores aren't the best in the world, but if you go to a veg/vegan restaurant that has them they will usually be better than the real thing.

lol veggie meats dont really taste anything like meat... If youre eating them for that reason and not just cos they taste good or are a good source of protein you should reevaluate your vegetarianism...

i'm strictly vegan for animal rights reasons, the environment, then health - it would be kinda weird if you were vegetarianism only because you thought mock meats tasted good, but reasons like health and animal rights are very good reasons.

Better be sure you check the ingredients on your mock meats, there, man. A lot of them use eggs and other animal products to flavor them. I was a vegetarian for almost three years but recently gave it up because I've had pretty bad health for the past three years, also. Around here, it's too difficult to obtain all the nutrients you lose when you don't eat meat because health food stores are scarce, as is money. And forget about eating out, ha. I also got sick of self-righteous vegans always pushing the fact that eating dairy was also supporting factory farms. I'm not risking my health so that I can be sure animals continue to have rights, sorry. I'm all for animal rights, but my health comes first and until I live in a region where I won't practically starve because I won't eat meat, I'm not going back to vegetarianism. It's too expensive when you don't have the right resources and it's too dangerous to risk malnutrition. Mock meats are okay and all, but I feel a ton better now that I'm getting all the nutrients that I was missing out on.

my friend should have gotten your message earlier ..he too was a vegan fanatic and health nut ....the only thing it got him was a massive stroke at 40 .luckily he survived but will never be the same again or be able to teach again ........doctors and himself agreed that it was due to his diet .........the human body needs fats ...his fellow vegan friend wasn't as lucky ...massive heart attack at 55 ...just out for a short jog and dropped dead as he entered his house.......the irony of it was that this guy was a butcher

Tuatara, sadly, even if he had have gotten my message earlier, chances are very very good he would have taken no heed. I really didn't believe anybody when they said my health problems were due to my diet and it took a lot of wearing down to convince me to even get close to meat again. Also, was there any correlation between the stroke and his diet? Or his friend's heart attack and his diet? I'm just curious if you were trying to make the point that even if you go by a strict vegan diet and lifestyle you can still have bad health, or if they had issues that were diet-related.

A well planned vegetarian/vegan diet is incredibly easy to follow and supplies you with everything you need. Coke and Chips ae vegetarian but not good for you. Please see the vegetarian section of this forum. many people say tehy didn't get enough of this or that but if you eat correctly, this is impossible.

The thing about mock meats, is that they mock you, saying "Don't you wish I were meat?" LOL

I'm doing Atkins so actually I'm not so hot for meat right now...although a pile of pepperoni and cheese sounds good, and it would be lo-carb...I wonder if Pizza Hut does a Pepperoni Pizza Feast...no sauce, no crust? I oughta call them and flip them out...
