I see alot of people who grow their own weed instead of buying it being busted now that the police have a better handle on the meth problem. Guess they need something to do to make it look like they are accomplishing something. But think about it. What earthly good does it do their war on drugs to bust people who are growing their own specifically so that they won't have to participate in the overpriced drug market? Everyone I know who has been busted for growing their own just ends up having to start buying again. So all their cute little drug busts end up ADDING to the market instead of taking away from it. And what about that? I don't see very many of the dealers getting busted for dealing. And alot of them are folks who have been dealing for YEARS. They are just doing an even bigger business now. So, one person gets busted for growing their own weed for their own use. Think about how EXPENSIVE that one bust is for the taxpayers. They have to pay all those cops for their time. More gas for more cop cars that day. Any thing extra the cops might use during the bust. Extra paperwork and time for the magistrate. All those court costs like filing fees, the judge, all the lawyers involved, the drug lab. Jail time costs taxpayers $50.00 a day for each inmate. Then you still have all the red tape of court proceedings - preliminary hearings, inditements, plea bargains. All the running to and from court over and over again, long distance phone calls to lawyers, on and on. Many can not afford to pay their fines, so that ends up being a dead end. All that to stop one or two people from growing their own, and adding one or two people BACK into the commercial world of the pot market. Once you really get to thinking about it, looks to me like the game is about ELIMINATING COMPETITION not eliminating pot... Wonder just who is actually behind the marijuana economy 'round here anyhow? 'Cause it looks just plain stupid to me.
Right you are. Even the strict Anti-Drug pricks should realize that the War on Drugs isn't solving the problem: its adding to it, creating a messier and more complicated dilemma.
I saw the title to your thread and immediately thought, "Why WE'LL never win the drug war"! We all know THEY aren't going to win the drug war, for reasons like you described. What most of us don't seem to realize is that WE'LL never win the war to legalize drugs, either. All we're doing on these forums is just spinning our wheels. We are being " slactivists ", sitting around typing our opinions to each other, but how often do we type our opinions and show them to someone who can actually help us?...like our congressional REPRESENTATIVES. They are there to represent US. People who wuss out on letter writing or phone calls to congress by claiming that it won't do any good are stupid loosers who might as well join the opposition because they are just dead weight to the rest of us. And, the truth of the matter, the bottom line is, nothing will change until enough of us start writing letters and telling our representatives how we want them to represent us! Don't be a slactivist! Make your voice be heard! Find your congressional representatives by going to http://www.votesmart.org. Join the e-mail list, No More Prohibition by sending an e-mail to " nomoproh-subscribe@yahoogroups.com ". The list provides leadership and organization to the general masses. We'll act as a group, but your individualism will never be compromised. We'll target specific legislators and media outlets. We can help you organize rallies, fundraisers, and other events. And, you can help others do the same while you are subscribed! So, as my dear old Aunt Hilda used to say, "Get off your ass and come help me!!!"
I've been saying this for years. When you consider, if even 5 out of every 10 people busted for possession went straight out and bought more ( Iknow I would), the gov are actually funding the illegal drug trade almost as much as we are. It's fucking ludicrous. And blatant proof that the 'system' have no idea what they are dealing with.
the war on drugs is impossible to win, its an underground community that's far more established then their minute attempts to bring it down, it adds to the problem, yes, more drugs are brought into the country or made because they keep taking them, do they think a pound of weed confiscated is a pound of weed gone from the market? yes. is it? no, we replace it, and sometimes people die depending on the type of drugs and the methods of production and trafficking, the war on drugs ruins and takes lives and solves nothing
i think thts a gd point but people do sell weed wen they grow it if they changed the law so that it was legal to grow n smoke but nt to sell tht wud solve everything
There are already copyrights on different brand names for herb ciggies. Soooo legal growing taking the $$$ out of big business' pockets is not going to happen. Anything good for the little guy is usually going to be exploited. I would prefer decriminalization. It would be interesting to see what the legal medical-maryj growers base their pricing on. -B
'Drug war' my arse. Alcohol is a drug. Tobacco is a drug. Hell, antibiotics and paracetomol are drugs. The whole thing is so phoney it makes me sick. As far as I can tell, the only reason that weed is illegal is that we can grow it oursleves and deal it amongst ourselves, so the government can't make a whopping huge profit like they do with alcohol and tobacco.
well said i also agree with the OP, you make some great points. it all reeks of either very manipulative management or just total idiocy. who knows which. either way it will change someday, maybe...
your 52 years old and your just now realizing thats how the government works? people like u cant help the cause anymore then the person ODed on the corner wearing a bob marley shirt
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! No, honey, I have known how the government workes since I was a kid. I was born and raised into a family of political activists. No one can help, not even you. The government does what it wants, and no amount of activism will change anything. If you speak too loudly and get too many people's attention, they just kill you. (Look what happened to John Lennon.) I post what I know as truth. That's because there are actually people out there who don't know, and maybe I can inform them. It's called education. And for those who DO already know, it is always good to know that there are others who feel the same way. OK, so, instead of just posting complaints on a forum, what is everyone actively DOING about the problem? Where are all those folks like Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin and John Lennon and Tim Leary and Martin Luther King and all the rest? Come on, I'm already there, but it takes more than just one. :banghead:
i am spreading the message everywhere and at my school we are having a persuasive argument where my teacher let me do marijuana as my topic. in short i think it will work like this "I'll tell 2 friends and they will tell 2 friends and that is like 10 people right there"
I don't have time to go searchin' for the info, you'll have to do it if ya want to know the answer. I'll just say that there are people who realize that the government has been known to use unknown "nutjobs" for assasination purposes more than once. They think it takes the heat off them and the investigations go no further...
The "war on drugs", just like the Iraq war, and the "war on terrah!!!" are government sponsored job generating programs, linked to the hip in no-bid contracts with companies like Halliburton, part of the military industrial complex. Our tax dollars at work. ; )
