This sucks. DH and I agreed to keep it low key for our birthdays this year. (Mine's sunday, His is Tuesday) So I went and spent the last little bit of cash I had on fabric to make him a new pair of patchwork pants. I've been working my ass off tonight to get them done. And then, TaDa! the motor on my sewing machine burns out. There's no way that I can finish them by hand in time for his birthday. So, this is a plea for some quick ideas. Anybody know of something I can whip up really fast?
is there anyone whos sewing machine you could borrow? Hand turn the wheel on the machine instead of sewing by hand/needle?
This is what friends or family are for! Borrow a machine. If nothing else. Just explain what you had planned, show him what you have done and where you plan to go with it and I'm sure he'll be as happy as pie. After all it's more about the thought that you were doing something special for him that's important - he'll get the actual pants eventually.
ouch that sucks. i would lend you mine if I could you know what I found was an awesome idea...and never seems to go old...IOUs. lol Make up a cute box and inside have about 10 IOU cards, all with different things on them. One, like a night of pampering, or watching nothing but his kind of movies (that is if you don't like them lol), a big wonderful supper, etc. The best thing I found to do was think of things I wasn't so nuts about or that I knew he loved and made them up around that. One year I left a bunch blank...don't know if I would recomend that though....depending on the kinda guy you have
That was a given! As for borrowing a machine, I'm pretty much the black sheep of the fam. None of my friends or family sew. I just showed him what I had done, and told him I'd finish them ASAP. Honestly, it seemed like I was more upset than he was.
