How to kill time waiting to leave for Amsterdam :) This was made from vaporizer grounds. Glad I didnt throw them away. I finally got enough time on my hands to try this. Now I have time and Oil on my hands. This turned out absolutely yummy.

Looks *really* good, volcanfuel! Is the strength and taste like regular hash oil or more like bubble hash? What method did you use to make this? Please share, for the benefit of of everyone here. Thanks! Peace.

I used about 3 ounces of vaporizer crumbs, 1 bottle of graves grain alcohol, and an electric stove on low. I opened all the windows before I started so I wouldnt build up nasty fumes. I took the duff, and put it in a glass container, and added the alcohol until the weed was fully submersed in alchohol. I let the weed sit for about 20 minutes in the alcohol, stirred it vigorously every few minutes. I then strained the liquid off, and put the liquid in the glass pyrex pan you see. I then placed it halfway onto the stove burner, on low. I took a small fan and blew air at the dish as well. WITH THE WINDOWS WIDE OPEN! When it got to the point where there was obviosly just a small amount of alcohol left, I took it off the heat, and let it cool a little . While it was still warm, I transferred most of it into small shot glasses. What you dont see in this picture is the rest of the oil. I got back quite alot. I didnt think to take pictures until I had seperated off the bulk of it. What you see here is what I was scraping off the bottom of the pie tin.
Thanks for the compliment. I didnt put much effort into this, so I was really happy about the outcome. Next time, I will take more care. However, it is as strong and as good as any hash oil that I have smoked. The end game of this test is that Vaporizer crumbs work the same as regular weed. I am going to do a Butane extraction with more of the crumbs later today. I have been saving my vaporizer crumbs for about a year now. So I have lots to play around with! I have never smoked BHO before, but from what I have read, its usually way better than regular hash oil. I will be able to tell you tomorrow, as I will be smoking BHO this afternoon for the first time. I am going to buy some BHO this week while I am in Amsterdam, so I will then have something to judge it against. All that being said, I will be repeating this. It was totally worth it. I was worried that because I had vaporized the weed, that I would end up with the equivalent of creosote or Odweeds hash oil "All the oil, none of the buzz" But it is strong, 2-3 hits is all you need. It is a quality product, and certainly better than any oil that I have purchased.

I really would like to make some edibles out of this. Anyone ever use hash oil to make edibles? Im not sure what the ratio should be. I sure would like to eat some of this before that 12 hour plane ride!

One other thing, in the past I always made my oil out of Isopropyl. I will NEVER make that mistake again. Grain alcohol is the way to go hands down. Health issues aside, grain alcohol leaves no taste behind. ISO does.

I just went and re-tested the product. 1 Big hefty choker, and your there. Sat back and wondered if there really IS something to decarbolxylation of THC. I did want to point out that this experiment was not really about quality, it was more of a "how much is in there" test, that had the freakish side of effect of producing very nice oil.

I think next time I do this I will shoot for quality as I know "its in there" and wont be time wasted.

I stole this method from another board. This looks to be the most promising method yet.

crush/grind your plant material as fine as possible, make sure it is as dry as possible, mix with your hexane in excess, heat to ~50 C not near boiling but warm, will disolve stuff faster, let sit for a while, day or two, filter out all the plant material (best to use good filters, like a buchner funnel with vacuum and good filter papers, but in theory coffee filters could work..) so that virtually all, all if possible of the plant material is removed from your hexane. Put hexane in a Separator funnel and mix 50/50 with RO water. Shake (Be sure to hold the stopcock with finger to keep it from blowing out and release pressure every couple shakes) this will pull out the small amount of polar material that the hexane dissolved into the water. Separate the water from the hexane using the Separator funnel, discard the water, keep hexane. Then using a still heat the hexane to boiling to drive it off of the solute, but be sure to use a water bath so that after the hexane is evaporated the solute dosn't get hotter.

This will leave you with the purest extract you can do without further processing... also it may be wise to evaporate the hexane in a container you can easily get the extract out of once its dissolved...

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with this! I'm sure others appreciate it too.

Hash oil is illegal in Holland, due to the chemical process used to make it and the danger of blowing oneself up, if not done correctly. You sure wont find any in the coffeeshops. If you know someone, you might be able to find some. Sorry to burst your BHO bubble. Thanks again! Peace.
