An art class idea I'm going to use

I had this idea. This year in art class, I'm planning on taking fake-tit porn pictures, putting them together on a piece of paper, and scribbling out their faces. Then cut out words like "dirty", slut, whore, bitch, skank, etc all over the background. Then I want to give it to the teacher. I know it sounds dumb, but I want to express the objectification of women's bodies in the porno industry (of course, not all, just some suck bum), and how they call them demeanign terms and how some women don't even repect themselves enough to say it's wrong and then continue to do it.


So what do you think, am I getting expelled this year?

 

hey thats a cool idea! i actually had kinda the same idea: duno if its the same in canada but over here (UK) in public phone booths there r ALWAYS cards with pictures of naked owman, prostitutes on them, and provocative messages, and phone numbers. neway i thought of just collecting them, i mean hey free cards!? and doing somehitng in art with them too. and same as u, to object against it, but i wasnt sure how... But i also wanted to show the other side, that its not always their fault, their taken advanatage off, by the industry, men, society even.... so not really sure how im gonna express that...
But either way, very cool idea, and if ur art teacher isnt some nazi closeminded person, it shud be ok. Or u could just talk to ur teacher before hand, i always dscuss my projects with mine first.

thats a good idea sunburst ... but its quite over done. i mean the whole provocative images of women with words like "whore" and "slut" around has been done by a lot of people. try using something insead of words... why not contrasting images of innocence, maybe if you have the model looking incredibly slutty and then having her surrounded or over lapped or even having images projected onto her of her innocent child hood. try and be a bit more creative with the imagry of it.. not saying its not creative but chances are you will get more marks. You can use to words in your process of the project but often it will be looked upon as you using the words just because you can. Also images are far more powerful than words.

Look into other artists who have done about sexuality. theres a lot of feminist artists out there, also look into the use of womens bodys in normal media. Also the fine line between nude art and pornography/erotica. One things thats quite prominant in media at the moment is the "fuller woman" for the first time the "fuller figure" is being advertised. I think its the Dove comertials thats using larger women. Before this it was the very slim lined image which was deeped to be sexy.
Also in the 80's there was the "ill heroine addict" look, very slim, tall, no breast or hip shape and almost sunken eyes (done with make up of course) if you look at a lot of mate moss's work she is almost the eppitomy of this image,although these days they are trying to make her more modern.
