So went to the beach today, and apparantly my sunbluck didnt feel like doing ANYTHING. My skin is raw. I have aloe and cocoa butter (like usual) and am drinking even more water than i would anyway. Anyone have any other tips or suggestions for things i can do/use so i dont peel too badly, and so i can reduce the unbearable pain? Thanks for any help!
i had the mother of all sunburns this summer. seriously, CHUNKS of skin were falling off me. and i used palmer's cocoa butter all over several times a day and it worked miracles. so it sounds like you're doing the right thing.
i agree, keep the cocoa butter and aloe vera up- i've never heard of using cocoa butter, but if you two swear by it then i will too!
hi there, as a fellower sun baker! i must say whatever amount u are using aloe make sure to double that in lotion, aloe actually dries out the skin more, which tho the bottle says to help reduce peeling, may actually make u peel more, so if your going to use aloe, make sure u let is soak in the more lotion, u can never use enough lotion! also if u still have the uncomfortable itch, burn pain, try some noxema. that does wonders, it is a cooling agent, and it will help reduce the uncomfortablness of it. hope that helped some
hey there. in the past ive used aloe two or three times a day to cool the skin, and use cocoa butter as often as i can. Its super moisturizing, so hopefully it'll help with the peeling, but im going to use the cocoa butter more than usual because in the past ive still peeled. (which may mean i get to walk into my first day of classes with skin hanging from my body. yay) I was searching the web for natural cures and it suggested a tea bath, which im about to try (hope parents dont mind me wasting so many tea bags!) and also said lavender oil. Now i know of some people who have bad skin reactions to straight lavender oil, can anyone give any advice on this method? the article said it will help the burn fade to a tan and not peel. Is this true? Bogus? I also read potato and vinnegar. Dont have enough potatoe and vinnegar on my burn sounds damn painful, even if it is diluted. Anyone know about these methods? My skin thanks you for any help! (oh and about the lotion comment, be careful about that. if its a lotion with lanolin it can further irritate the skin if theres any kind of burn!!)
vinegar will take out the sting, but then u will smell like a salad all day, but witch hazel has the same affect, but no stink, and it won't sting either,. and NEVER peel peeling skin, it only makes it worse. and a helpful if ur super burned don't put cold water on it, it will only make it blister more, luke warm is the best bet
im trying the vinnegar. i figure if i do it at night and shower in the am or take a tea bath in the am i'll be okay (i kind of like smelling like tea, its nice) i wouldnt want to smell like vinnegar all day, though, no. hopefully it'll work and i wont peel... we'll see.
