Sen. Obama today issued this press release calling on President Bush to End the Iraq War by signing the supplemental funding bill. Of course he won't and then BUSH will be responsible for NOT funding the troops, not bringing them home, etc.

So will EVERY REPUBLICAN who refused to override Bush's veto.

May NONE of them ever get re-elected to office in this country!

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) today released the following statement after the Senate approved the supplemental funding bill that sets a target date to remove U.S. combat troops from Iraq:
“We are one signature away from ending the Iraq War. President Bush must listen to the will of the American people and sign this bill so that our troops can come home.”

“I opposed this war from the start. I said then that it would distract us from pursuing those who attacked us and would entangle us in an occupation of undetermined length, cost and consequences. This war has no military solution, and the Iraqi people need to take responsibility for their own future.”

“That’s why I believe that my plan for a phased withdrawal with the goal of removing all combat brigades from Iraq by March 31st, 2008 is still the best way to pressure the warring factions to reach a political settlement necessary to end this war. This similar plan responsibly redeploys our troops from Iraq while protecting our interests in the wider Middle East. It ensures that we are as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in.”

“All of us have been touched by the heroic sacrifices troops have made in service to our country. With the stroke of a pen, President Bush can bring them home to the families who love them and to a country ready to honor them for their service.”

But if the Dems (aka Corporate Party B) were serious about ending the war (which they're not), they wouldn't have added so much pork to the bill (which was deliberate), so Bush can then say "I am vetoing the bill because there's 'too much pork.'" This should further prove to people the total sham which is the two-party system. They're trying to provide us the illusion the Dems are fighting against the Reps, when in reality they're in complete lock-step with the Reps. This all amounts to little more than a dog and pony show. Nobody has any plans on bringing the troops home, but some will pretend they do.

Many people in this country would have liked to see Bush impeached, yet the Democrats, who are supposedly representing these people, made no attempt at impeachment (with the exception of Kucinich). Nancy Pelosi (a total phony) made it clear from the beginning that she would not seek impeachment for Bush. If the majority of the Democrats are unwilling to impeach Bush, what makes you think they're going to end the war? They're not. Like I said before, these people answer to the same masters.

The fact of the matter is, the people have absolutely no say whatsoever.

Okay though, you are not talking logically.... Impeach Bush? Why? So Cheney can run the country?! That idea is by far worse than what we have now!!!

If we do any act of impeachment, i vote the one that happened with Clinton (which was bogus anyway), which is the actual embarrassment of being impeached but doesnt actually remove him from power.

The thing is, that if you want to do any good, then you just need to get rid of everyone and make a clean sweep of congress. End of story!

This is not goign to happen, and so, the only way by which we will make and headway is to start speaking up for ourselves and our country.

A true patriot supports their country all the time, and their government when they deserve it. Yet, no one really wants to lay it on the line.... get up, stand up!

    Peace and Love

I agree with you, YEM. I never said impeaching Bush was the answer. It goes way beyond that. Bush is just a puppet anyway. It's not like he's making any of the decisions.

As I said in another thread, there are OTHER BILLS OF IMPEACHMENT circulating in Congress right now. Some target Cheney, some Bush. That is why there was no support for Kuncinch's articles.

And if you understand the impeachment process, the House brings forth the Impeachment articles, and if passed, the Senate must HOLD A TRIAL of the Prez or VP.

At the end of the trial, I believe they can be removed from office if found guilty.

Cheney will be first, then Bush if necessary. I think if you remove Condi, Cheney & Rove, Bush will be a pushover. He'll have no support and little actual power to do anything other than veto laws.

Is there any support for any of the other bills of impeachment? Kucinch targets Cheney first. And I commend him for his efforts even though I know they will bear no fruit. Has Hillary or Obama, or even some of the republicans called any sort of oversight of the events that lead to this mess?

This is still alot of power unless you can convert more republicans and democrats to common sense so that a 2/3 majority exists....essentially Bush would still have far too much power to halt progress and prevent the undoing of some of the damage that's already been done........making the entire process futile. What happens if the Dems were to finally pull their worthless heads out of there asses (doubtful) and go to repeal the Defense Authorization Act......or the Military Commissions Act..........or the afront to the first amendment found in the Insurrection Act:
Without a majority vote, this PNAC shill can shoot down any hope of progress........

IMHO the entire executive branch should be removed as well as a great deal of congress. Our entire system has become so ripe with corruption and power hungry beauracrats it is wishful thinking to believe you can inflict positive change from within the system at this point, given the nature of the occupants. Our republic has transformed into an empire and if someone doesn't do something about the perversive herd mentality soon, we're all fucked!

Don't worry, all those Republican who refuse to OVERIDE BUSH'S VETO of the Iraq Supplemental Bill will be out of a job in 2009.

I recommend ALL DEMS REFUSE to come up with another BILL. Then the war will HAVE TO END, without further funding.

They should tell this to BUSH NOW, before he vetoes it. No more bills coming your way, dude. Reject this one, and YOU END THE WAR YOURSELF!

I don't know why they haven't thought of that, and instead promise to send him yet another bill!!!

TELL YOUR CONGRESSPEOPLE, NO MORE IRAQ SPENDING BILLS...
