Hey everyone... I just saw this thread called 'world without money' or something like that... It reminded me of my childhood... (of course, I'm 16 years old so I'm still in my childhood, but let's call it my pre-puberty). I remembered that I used to think about a world without money and that I had a great interest in marihuana...I always said I'd smoke pot before I'd smoke tobacco, because being High intrigued me, and I hated te smell of cigarettes. (I didn't succeed btw, but I do smoke pot now and I don't smoke cigs)

I guess I was born 40 years too late... Can anybody else think of ideas they had when they 'were young' that perfectly fit being a hippy?

Thats pretty sad that you linger on the sadness of being born 40 years too late. You should be greatful that you were born in this time, the world has many more problems now then it ever has, and you can make a difference if you stopped wishing that you were born 40 years earlier.

Its posts like yours that make me realize how much I do not want to be known as a 'neo-hippie".

if your not proud to be a neo hippie than shut the fuck up and get out!

my post wasn't at all about when I was born, nor was it about me being sad about my birth (which I am not, i'm happy with my life)

I am not a neo-hippie, and thanks for proving the point I was trying to make. It is pointless to question when you were born, that is one thing you cannot change so why worry about it?

What the fuck does sexuality have to do with any of this?

    That was pretty stupid, man.
First off, I am grateful that I was born when I was. Now, I can do something good for our world. I am working to fix these 'problems.' (as best I can)
Also, why is Chuck confused with his sexuality? Besides, even if he was a "flammin' faggot", it wouldn't matter. I mean shit, I've had a boyfriend before, does that bother you?

    Also, I'm not a neo-hippie.
A neo-hippie is trying to be exactly like past hippies, which if you ask me is a bit pathetic.

No such thing as being born too late. Your point, was when did you know you cared? I have some memories. I was 5. Didn't CARE about your race or color. If I liked you, I liked you. I'm still that way.

One of my most vivid memories is when I was aged about seven a thunderstorm broke over the playground during break. All the other children run and hide, but I just stood there, totally alone with the power of nature, not frightened but just awed.
No idea if that's hippy, but it was profound in way I can't explain. Closest thing I've had to a religious experience.

    Totally agree :)

    and.....

I could see straight through the rules and control in school. Frustrated me no end because I hadn't figured out how to do anything about it.

Throughout childhood (my whole life in fact) I always felt disconnected from other people, especially my peers. Felt like I was seperate from them in my understanding and desires.

Always loved animals and cared about the enviroment

During assemblies in juniour (grade) school we used to sing various hymns, and blowing in the wind (which was definetly my fave.) . Never struck me as odd till much later.

My Dad is a Beatles fan, so I learnt to love them from him. There was a time I could listen to Lucy in the sky with diamonds and not even consider drugs. (Ah childhood innocence)

I grew up on the beatles and marley..and my brother and I used to fight over which marley cd we wanted to listen to...At night I'd sit around and sing to the beatles for hours on end..I don't think I cared about anything much more than animals and nature..good times good times

This whole string seems very un-hippie. Just relax. I don't know if I am a neo-hippie, nor do I care. Just let people be who they are, don't force them into or out of molds. Lets all just smoke, be happy, and make the world a better place.

    Peace and Love

Not too sure about the everyone smoking part, Id rather not(i dont care if you or anyone else does, whatever makes ya happy) but the rest of your post is really good. I really dont give a fuck what anyone thinks they are, but of course im gonna say something about it if you make a post talking about how "hip" you are. unless you were part of the 60s movement, then you have no right to say that. oh, and if you make a post which i think is linking labels to the word "hippie", then ya im gonna say shit about that too.

Soulrebel, why are you bothered so much by the word hippie? Sure it's not the same as in the sixties, but what would you call all those people who post here? It's not an insult, just an easier way of saying what type someone is, instead of describing his or her whole character. But surely you understand that when I say 'Hippie' I don't mean someone from the sixties smoking pot with opium, wearing tyedye t-shirts? I mean him among others. I also mean the sixteen year old left-wing vegan girl and the eighteen year old guy who's loving his freedom. There's a big difference between a label and a prejudice. That's why it's called a label... I mean, do all Timberland or Calvin Klein clothes look the same? No, but there is a certain style that comes back in all their clothes...

I was not posting this because I want to show you all how 'hip' I am, I just remembered some cute things about me while I was a little boy and wanted to hear some stories about other persons... Sage Phoenix and the Strange Indeed girl understood and told me some. You just saw the post and assumed I was definitely talking about you, and posted some shit about labelling people and how you're not a hippie... which just leaves me thinking how you ever came to this forum...

i came to this forum out of boredom, i searched the word 'hippie' on yahoo and i found this place. the word hippie is being misused today, a hippie is someone who lived thru and was part of the movement in the 60s, not a tiedye wearing peace loving freak of today. if there is any young hippies, they arent the ones who call themselves hippies. or maybe i have no idea what the hell im talking about, thats just my opinion.

and jailmate, go fuck yourself you long haired homophobic pig.

Ah, so since I am confortable with my sexuality and don't base who I date on anything physical, that makes me a fag?
