Amazing musician, awesome songs. who else thinks so? If you dont listen to him, i suggest you give him a listen, it'll change your life.
its amazing after an artist dies how all these people come out of the woodwork saying how great they were...... its like they are more famous once they are dead then when they are alive.... the same thing happened with sublime thanx to mr nowell, and blind melon thanx to shannon hoon, and of course nirvana thanx to kurt cobain
it happens to be sheer coincedence that i started listening to him after he died. and you cant hold that against a person, just because their dead doesnt mean there music still isnt great. i loved elliott even before i knew he was dead. my friend brought over basement on a hill one day, smoked afew joints. i was floored. i immediately went out and bought XO, roman candle, and the untitled one. and i fell in love with all of his music instantly. then i did a google seach on him finding out he died 2 years earlier, it made me really sad to know that he had died so shortly before. and even as a kid, id watch good will hunting, humming miss misery in my head and not knowing it was him. and sadly, hes dead. doesnt mean hes still wasnt a great and very influencial musician.
im sorry, but thats a really twisted way to look at it. especially since he wasnt all too popular (atleast from what i can tell). i kind of see what your saying tho, it happens with all artists. i personally dont like any of those bands, afew blind mellon songs are allright, nothing spectacular. and dont think your cool mr. prolific just because youve pointed out the obvoius. i dunno, your post just bothers me. this wasnt a thread to bitch about people who start listening to music just because someones dead. it was more of a elliott smith apreciation thread, but obvoiusly you didnt get the point man. sorry if this came off a bit harsh. but this is the truth on how i feel about this matter.
I love Elliot Smith! all of his songs are amazing...hmm, kind of makes me wonder what it would sound like trippin' on acid, or better yet...shrooms...so many shrooms that the color green tastes beautiful! that i have to try..
