in light of recent events, i wonder if it is possible to have a debate in the stoner's lounge without ending up off topic? how do you guys feel about the right to bear arms?

personally, i feel that i have the right to arm myself if i feel that i need to. i'll elaborate more later, but lemme hear your thoughts on it.

I believe that guns are for cowards and hunters not talented enough to use a bow.
No good use can come of them...but nonetheless, we're stuck with them. That said, we should have the right to arm ourselves if we wish.

As far as bear arms go, I think I'd like a pair.

hehe don't worry natural, I won't take it off topic... yet :). It's a tough question, but I guess an important aspect to me is the question of whether the government should have the total monopoly on owning guns. It's often said that a government/nation/state is the entity within a country that has a monopoly on legal violence... and the right for citizenry to bear arms, does that mitigate it a bit? I think it was originally brought in for militia purposes (everyone had a gun ready), but that's obviously a little outdated. I'm no US historian though so yeah. But I think that people are going to find them anyways, I don't think it HURTS to make it legal - most people that I know would, like myself, not even bother to get one. Of course there's the potential for violence too - and the many seemingly idiotic people out there ... haha stoned, rambling

the reason we have the right to bear arms (in the constitution) is to defend ourselves from the government

im going to get a gun when im old enough, maybe a few, say a 12 gauge and a 9mm. i dont know, would make me feel alot safer :D

say something happened, id feel alot better. or if my neighbourhood got infested with hippies, i dont think locking them in my basement with some spliffs and guitars and occasional bear mace will work :D

there def should be allowed to own guns. esp certain people like my step-mom. shes about 5'2 and weighs around 110 pounds, of course she is paranoid, but if someone does choose to attack her, she keeps a .38 under the seat of her car. shes almost a perfect target for predators. she also keeps a .357 in her house.

why wouldn't one be in favor of the right to protect themselves with a gun?

    but what about gun laws?

i wish to god that there were no guns. no good comes from them being around. however, the fact is that they do exist and are iin society, i think people should be allowed to have them. if there were a way to get them all out of society and out of government/police, i would be for that, but there isn't so everyone should be allowed.

also, the right to bear arms is the second amendment to the constitution, and i am a firm believer in the constitution. if we get rid of the 2nd amendment, what next? the 1st? the 4th?

it's irresponsible users, illegal weapons, and the shady culture of the world which makes guns look bad

I, myself have my FAC, Owners License, Hunters Liscense, as well as own several guns in my possesion, strictly for hunting

the problem with gun control, is that it just doesnt work, when some retard drug dealer offers me a gun to buy, if this retard can get his hands on an unregistered weapon, how easy must it be for me to find an illegal weapon? it's a joke

    shotguns and Rifles

my dad used to own an AR-15 [on the left] until they became restricted by the canadian government

and we also own 2 Russian AK47's similar to the one on the right

imo there is no use in this world for handguns besides law enforcement

portability imo, it would be abit hard concealing a 12 gauge in a sticky situation. was the ar-15 fully tunes out then? with the scopes and all that?

its cool about the ak's, id keep em, a few of em is enough to start a small war, or if case be - stand your ground, and do it pretty well

we should all have guns.. they're fun. it'd be fucked up that this country gets it's freedom from the british through guns, then the government says, ok, all except the government -- turn in your guns.. fuck you! i'd say.... we'll need them when the time comes.. globalization, a high wealth only social class with a servant class and everyone else where many hide today -- in more jails....

the AR-15 looked exactly like the one pictured from what i remeber, then right before it became restricted my dad sold it to some guy who didnt know any better

your attitude, as well as others in this thread is what makes guns have a negative image in society, the guns i own rarely see the light of day, and when they do it's only for hunting, the amount of time they are out of some sort of chest/case per year is probably less then 20 hours

people who think guns are "cool" or treat them without respect shouldnt be even around them in the first place

is it a coincidence that most public shootings happen in no-gun zones where people don't have guns to defend themselves? take a poll of all the criminals in this country and they will be for massive gun control restrictions. there was one town, i forget where or what it was called (maybe somebody can help me with this) but they passed a law requiring every adult to own a gun. crime is almost nonexistent there because the criminals are scared of the citizens, not the other way.
