truthfully some of his rhymes are good (certainly better than most)...some of the beats are good and the combination of a good beats to good lyrics (some certainly not all) equal out to a good song..and even if the lyrics aren't "pc" or very good the beats are still good and a good song really depends on what you're looking for...some people like his "gangsta image" and others like the lyrical asspects to the songs or the instrumental cuts he uses....*shurgs* different strokes for different folks...
The only reason I think he is popular at all is because he writes music for teenie boppers who hear something stupid and think its cool b/c its on MTV or something. Then all the little kids get it so they can keep up w/ whats "cool". Its soo sad. I wish someone would tell these kids that 50 cent sucks b/c seriously, how did this dude get a record deal? 50 cent is witless. I hate that rapper cliche which says you have to dress up like a mobster (plain shit), come from a low neighboorhood (bollocks) and tackle things like Homosexuality, bitches and whatnot. If you look into 50 cent's lyrics, nothing dazzling stands out. What makes me laugh hard is when his videos hit MTV or any other music chanels, we always can presume we'll see him with gorgeous topless women shaking their backsides. According to me, the best rapper is Kanye West by far. At last, this is my opinion because I haven't obviously had a listen to each rap/hip-hop artist but I think he perfectly thinks up hip-hop beats, writes his lyrics amazingly well and performs in a pretty good way. He's involved into many good things and is not afraid of coming across as arrogant. He made himself known through tv, especially when he badmouthed Bush (He was actually right). He doesn't embody the rapper tendency as he comes from a well-off family, plus he's elegantly dressed and speak about interesting things.
Well if you ask me the only reason he's being number 1 now is because of people like us. We make all this hype about him and the more we make hype about him the more he gets out there. Then everyone else always wants to listen to him because they think he's really cool since everyone's talking about him. If everyone just shut up about him for a month, he would die off. But then again, 50 Cent isn't the worst anymore. There's people like Rich Boy coming out and songs like This is why I'm Hot? Come on people. I'd rather listen to 49 Cent then listen to THROW SOME D'S. The whole rap industry is following 50 Cent's footsteps. Nothing is like what it used to be. But I guarentee 50 Cent wouldn't be here if he didn't get shot (which I hoped he wouldn't make it out of) and if he didn't have Eminem and Dre on his side. Eminem alone made so much hype about him. Also Dre? If William Hung had Dre on his side he would be a millionaire. But this is what rap is coming to. A slow death. There are some good underground rappers but not many.

I agree that 50 Cent is not even close to being the best rapper out there, but he definitely has done some quality songs during his career. 50 cent in my opinion has no talent, other then knowing how to use his image to make money, its just ashame that because of people like him hip hop is looked down on, hes also giving the wrong message to todays youth, if hip hop was still like it was in the 90s i don't think as many people would disregard it as being actual music.
