Hey everybody! Seems like ages since I've posted new clothing around here, so I thought I'd show you a few custom pieces I've done recently... First is a patchy hoodie/coat ordered online. It looks funny on my skinny girlie mannequin, since it's made to fit a big/tall guy. Got an om applique on the back, and a shroom on the back of the hood so it's only visible with the hood up. I also made the glass shrooms on the hood drawstring. One happy accident - mistakenly bought a two-way zipper and put it in anyway. Using one of these for a coat had never really occurred to me before, but now that I have I like it. Seems like it'd be great on a summer night, in front of a fire or something - you can leave it open at the bottom and still bundle up at the top. Oh yeah, and two stash pockets. Second is a very headie coat I made special for a friend. Steal-your-face applique on the back, peace/turtle on the right breast, cool sort of variegated green flannel liner, beads on the drawstring, patchy trim all the way around. Three stash pockets in this one. Third is a stealie skirt I did custom for a mama on myspace a while ago... I like the way it came out and she absolutely LOVES it. Wrote me a few days ago, in fact, and said she's barely taken it off in a month.
Thanks, mama! I'm pretty proud of the stealies I've been doing. All the detail is done with thread - I basically embroider it with a zig-zag. I really like, in a lot of ways, the limitation I have in doing applique - if I had an embroidery machine I wouldn't break it down on my own as much.
that's some awesome patchwork and very cool appliques I've missed your postings, glad to see you're back with some very cool stuff
Thanks so much for the kind words ladies! Hopefully I'll have more pics to show off soon - I'm in the middle of a big batch of shorts and another coat!
