What are your expectations of this film? If you've seen it, did it live up to, surpass or fall short of those expectations? The last combination of director Danny Boyle and actor Cillian Murphy, '28 Days Later' is one of my favourite ever films. But I can't help thinking I've seen Sunshine before without ever having watched it. Unlike 28 Days, which turned the zombie genre on its head by not actually being a zombie film at its core, I feel Sunshine is just another film combining two concepts that have been done to death. I have a feeling it's going to be a rehash of every other disaster + heroes save the world film (The Core, Deep Impact, Armaggeddon) combined with a poor Alien/Event Horizon....

i think it looks interesting. wouldn't spend money to see it in the cinema but i'd at least download it and check it out (once it's on DVD).

I love Danny Boyle, in spite of The Beach, so I'm going to give this a chance:)

we were thinking of going to watch it, but might go for 'the lives of others' instead.

I went to see it, it was never going to be Danny Boyle's best film, but it's alright. I thought it was going to be an entirely naturalistic space sci-fi film, without any monsters or pseudo-mystical crap, which would've been a nice change (why are there no naturalistic scifi films?) and it kind of was, but in the end it wasn't entirely or entirely clearly so. The trouble is it's a crowded and rather tired genre and I don't think Boyle adds much to it, but it's a good example of that type of film, in fact one of the best. I suspect he just wanted to do something different from his last film, "Millions" (which is brilliant!) and this couldn't be further away from that. Given the chance to make a big budget space movie I can see why he would've chosen it, but I feel it could've been much better, from one of our best directors. Ultimately it's not all that much more than its plot and effects.
