    Hey,

Have any of you heard of the word 'castra oil?" Have you tried it? Did it work for you?

My doctor suggested me to take contra oil and I refused because I did not know much about it. I need to find out more before I decide.

    Help would be gladly appreciated.

    Thanks!

ah, well I am over due with my little guy, and I tried to use castor oil last week to "naturally" induce labor. It didn't work.

It's a laxative and it's supposed to work by stimulating contractions in your intestines, which in turn will stimulate uterine contractions. If your body is ready it might put you into labor. I've heard it has worked well for a lot of people, but I had no luck. It just made me really sick for a few days. and I still have no baby. It's also pretty nasty to take, and there is some risk of dehydration because of the diahrea it can cause.

here's some links with info about it...

this is the site that convinced me to try it ... but I definitely didn't have this kind of success...

i just realized that you mentioned that you already took castor oil and it tasted so bad and caused diahrea... it sucks, eh?

maybe sex would help to induce labor??? i heard people and even doctors said sex during the final stage would help to go into labor. it's like a pop... :)

yeah i took it and it just made me sick. I don't recomend it. even if it does put you into labor, it will make you sick first. that's how it works. It can also be dangerous for the baby. I wouldn't do it again, but some people swear it works and is safe. I guess I'm just not one of those people. lol.

sex can also help induce labor, but that hasn't been working very well for me either lol. This baby just does not want to come out. My doctor even insisted that we have more sex. lol I have a doctors apointment tomorrow morning, so we'll see what's going on.

i totally agree with you. it's better to avoid castor oil even though, it is safe. i prefer to let it go itself or have more sex. less worry and stress...

good luck at your dr appt tmrw. i have an appt this coming wed (which is my actual baby due date... :) ) to be specific, i'm 39 weeks and 3 days as dr told me.

let me know how it goes. no wonder you are past due... try more sex. how are you feeling? do you have trouble sleeping? bathroom trips and so on? also, do you experience braxton hicks? discharges? this info is so helpful and share similar experience. love this forum... :)

I have had a hell of a time lately. I can never get into a comfortable position to sleep, and I have to get up to go to the bathroom almost every hour. I can't stand it anymore! I have false labor almost every night. Lots of contractions, back ache, nausea... but It never turns into the real thing. I'm pretty sick of it. lol. I'm getting very impatient. But overall I've had a really great pregnancy so I shouldn't complain. It will be over so soon.

How about you? You must be excited getting so close to the end. :)

    DO NOT TAKE CASTOR OIL!

I took it to induce labour, 4 oz with OJ one hour and then another 4 oz two hours later. It DID start my labour, but it also helped contribute to Moire's waters breaking early and there being meconium (fetus poop) in the waters, which is a sign of distress in the baby.

Because of this, my labour stalled and I had a strict timetable because of the broken waterbag.

Next time, I won't be taking castor oil.

I'm not the only one with this story, some of the other mommies on here experienced the SAME thing. Jayzzmama in particular.

ETA: No doctor should be encouraging you to induce labour at 39 weeks for no reason. The average first time mother is 10 days overdue. PLease wait. Walk alot, have sex, masturbate, eat good foods, drink LOTS of water, and rest. But please don't try to induce. :)
