Bringing a pipe back to the US?

Hey guys,
I wanted some advice:

Im doin thise exchange trip here in Berlin, and I come back to the US in July.

I bought a pipe while I was here in Berlin, and Ive used it alot and brought it alot...and simply said: it has sentimental value, and its just simply a great pipe (very small, easy to stuff in pocket when you need, but the bowl isnt so small that you cant pack a good amount, etc. etc.).

I wanna bring it back to the US after my exchange trip.

But how the hell could I do that?

First off, the pipe, since its small and not the usual shape as a pipe (and its wooden, dark brown), it doesnt really come off as looking like a pipe. the bowl isnt raised from the rest of the pipe, its set into the wood.

I was thinking if I cleaned it out really well (nail polish, soap, lotsa water, burn incense in it, clean it more, have someone smoke a bunch of tobacco through it, clean it more, have someone smoke more tobacco, and clean it again.), it would be good. the size of the pipe is as big as your pointer finger, at largest (length and width-wise about), so its small, and like I said, doenst really look like a pipe.

So, if I cleaned it out like I siad, and then just put it in my huge suitcase thatll be packed to the brim with clothing, stuffed in a sock or just stuffed in the mess of clothes, how much of a chance do you think Id have getting it back to the US?

What kinda searches are tehre? Im thinking if it was seen thru an XRAY machine that it wouldnt look like a pipe anyway.
And if I cleaned it out really ewll like I said, would the drug dogs be able ot still smell it, with it all tobacco'ed and soaped up, and hidden away in a stuffed suitcase?

would it be better as a carry-on, or for checked luggage?

Sounds good to me. Just get that pipe clean. And pack & smoke some flavored tobacco in it. Pipes are allowed, with no resin in it of course. There was a old hippie dude here on the forums that owned a head shop in FL. that posted on the amsterdam forum alot. He would bring pipes back to sell at his shop. I can't think of his name though.

 

Should be fine. I've put a lot dodgier stuff in my luggage/on my person than that, though not going to the states. Coming back from morocco I put about 30g of hash in a sock in my luggage and there was no probs with that. When I went round europe a couple of years back I took a used chillum and pipe with me over many borders and on a couple of flights with no hassle. I'm sure you'll be fine dude.

I'm coming over to Berlin in a little while, just finalising dates/money now. I can't wait!!

 

I wouldn't take the chance, US border crossing have dogs that can smell 1part per 1,000,000 you can't never clean it that well save yourself the trouble, fines and jail time is not worth it,at less your name goes it to the computer and you don't travel any more , please don't be stupid you can aways buy one at home or online .

 

It depends, you could very well be searched by customs at which point you'd be in a mess. Like PAX-MAN said, their dogs can smell 1 ppm. I wouldn't reccomend it to be honest. The pipe just sounds like a small Dug Out pipe anyways, you could easily find one for under $10 back in the States.

Rubbing Alcohol. Lots of rubbing alcohol to clean it. Tons.

Then mail it back. Dont bring that shit with you.

 

If you clean it with nail polish remover, and then smoke a little tobacco out of it you'll be fine.

 

That's sketchy.You could wind up in a world of shit that you don't need to deal with.I dunno if it'd be worth it.You could clean it up really well,and be fine.But I'm not sure I'd take the chance myself.

 

Why dont you buy another one of those pipes and not use it and take that one back?

yeah, yeah, I was thinking it probably woudlnt work out anyway, but I was just seeing what you guys thought, and if there was some possibility.

and yeah, the pipe has sentimental value. the pipe and i have had some sweet times together, ya kno?

just do it. I brought a Q of weed thru the atl airport. just taped it to my leg and walked thru, no problem.

 

and your going to do his time if he gets caught

 

just put it in your pocket and be sure there isn't anything that would trigger the metal alarm so the guy wouldn't have to search you.

 

have you ever gone thow customs , you get your bags and stand in a line as a dog smells you a you bags if you clear that then you go throw the x-ray machine

 

You could always put it in a condom and shove it up your ass.
