Body Image and the gay commuinity

I'm thin but in very good shape for my age (50) and would date someone larger IF they were trying to get healthy by exercising and eating right. If the attitude is "well, I'm fat and there is nothing I can do about it so I'll just sit here, watch Oprah and eat bon bons" and the only exercise they get is going to the fridge then no because they aren't trying to help themselves.

I guess in that sense then yes I am image aware.

 

Well Im having trouble not obsessing about my body just because Im not skinny not even close. I would want o be skinnyer and toned but instead I ahve a stomache and Im agriad of it not goingn away.

Strangeness - look at your parents (if you can). Are they short and fat? Well if they are, you're going to have to live with the fact that you will probably be short and fat too. And even if you are, there are people out there that find short, fat dudes attractive. Trust me. And vice-versa. If your parents are tall and thin, you will stretch out soon enough. I remember feeling EXACTLY the same as you when I was your age. Take it easy

 

not sure if this'll help, but a guy I went to high school with was over weight. he went into the army after HS and I saw him two years later .. son of a bitch, he trimmed down and toned up A LOT, didn't even look like the same guy.

I'm not suggesting by any stretch to join the army or any shit like that, just keep the faith in your self, EAT RIGHT and exercise. it does take time. don't give up.

You can't really change your height but your body composition is extremely changable.

 

True, but if his parents are both naturally short and fat, it will be hard to become thin.

 

If you willpower is low enough to not exercise and have a crappy diet then you deserve to be out of shape.

I'm talking at like 16 + when you're pretty much done developing though. Most people don't really know their true natural body shape until then beause your hormones change A LOT. To the OP, you could just be a late bloomer.

 

I don't really have too much of a problem with my body... I'm just really self conscious about my body hair - I've got a lot of hair on my tummy and on my ass and it's just ughhh.

 

Okay, I know I'm not a gay man, but whats wrong with hair? Personally, I'm attracted to HAIRY guys... I mean HAIRY.

 

I feel the same way as amp. I'm a fairly hairy guy ("Will someone get this big walking carpet out of my way!") and I'm pretty insecure about it.

I know there are people who like bears but for me, I'm attracted to smooth skin and maybe that's why I'd prefer to have (and show off) smooth skin because it makes me feel attractive (based on what I deam attractive).

It doesn't make sense to me either. I mean, I'm sure there are lots of smooth guys out there that dig a hairy dude and yet I'm still pretty insecure about it.

I'm generally not attracted to hairy guys, but it all comes down to the person. If someone isn't willing to date you just because of body hair, then they're probably not worth it anyway.

 

There have been a few hairy guys who I thought were attractive and I'm open to it but generally I prefer smoother guys. Who knows though... Maybe I'll end up with a bear and love it

For me it is less about looks. I've met some great people who are smart, interesting, fun to be with but you won't find them on the cover of any magazines. Unfortunately they were straight but I could definitely see myself living happily with someone like that.

 

Yeah, I'm mostly attracted to smoother guys too, which is why I'm insecure about all my hair.

But then again, like mushie said, if someone isn't willing to be with me because I'm a hairy guy, then that guy totally isn't worth it.

 

I'm hairless in the torso/back area. I find chest hair errotic so I'm attracted to it.

@amp, yeah man, keep that attitude. you have a beautiful soul and personality (from the forums) and if a guy can't see that then as is said "he isn't worth it"

I'm pretty much hairless except for my pubes and my underarms, and I'm mainly attracted to the same, but I love it when guys have that happy trail of hair growing up from their crotch to their belly button. OMG that's so hott....
