umm... just because a file extension says it is Xvid, doesnt mean it is the same kind of Xvid. codecs are complicated like that. one Xvid file may have oggvorbis audio and mpeg-2 video. another Xvid file may have mp3 audio and mpeg-1 video. lots of combinations are valid for Xvid.

it sounds like your conversion software does not utilize your Xvid codec correctly or something. you have the codec if it plays on your computer. maybe there is some other problem, who knows.

btw, you can download iso files ready to be burned to DVD from mininova. :)

I suggest that you don't use Bit Torrent as the program is full of spyware. uTorrent is a better program which has more features and uses less resources.

    on windows?

just use windows media player. it will manage, convert, and burn for you. Utorrent can download many different audio formats. it all depends on which one you pick to download. the most common is mp3 but i have seen a good bit of flac and wma.

It's all about Bit Comet by the way. Or Azureus. UTorrent never worked well for me. I get much faster download speeds or Bit Comet and Azureus.

Thanks Adderall-Are you talking about audio files?-I ment the video files-I downloaded one and have tried to convert using Convert X but it won't convert-I have the latest XVID Codec Pack installed-I got the video file from UTorrent-I don't mind if it isn't an all the time thing .Think I'll check out the Bit Comet-either way is better than the Limewire crap shoot-Never know what your gettin there!

Wow-Much faster download time with Bit Comet-the videos are comin through faster than I can watch them now!-Also' even though I told the firewall to allow it through I kept getting a message that it was blocking the peers so I shut it off and I think it made things speed up-Bit Comet is alot faster for me than U Torrent-

thats awsome. i have never used bitcommet or Utorrent before. before i went all Linux, there was only Bittorrent and one other beta torrent app. now i use Transmission and it is great. the speeds are fast but most of all, it uses almost NO resources. Transmission uses about 3% CPU max and it is a spike interval.

I did notice my pc slowing way down when I was running both of those programs at the same time-I had 8 videos downloading at once and I was not able to do anything else' so I shut down the UTorrent and now I got back resources again-I have a lady friend who just switched to cable and says it is MUCH faster on the downloads then the DSL I use-and I have a newer faster system than she does-I have never had cable before-Is it that much difference in the download time?

in my experiences, cable has been much faster than DSL. it is contriversal though so i would have to say that i have never been in a situation where DSL was faster than cable.

Yea-I know it's faster but she said she was able to download a full video like 1000mb in 15 minutes-that seems very fast-
