Hey man, welcome to this little community, hope you have a great time posting here. I used to know a couple of people from Brum on here, and they pop back occassionally. Stick around, you might bump into a few. We also end up meeting up at festivals and gatherings throughout the year, so I'm sure you'll meet lots of great people on here. I've just got back from Beautiful Days, it was brilliant, had lots of fun seeing everyone again....
I'll be living in Leicester soon! I have spent rather a lot of time in Brum though over the past 2 years as my boyfriend lives close.
I knew a guy from birmingham, he was being fitted up for a suit and the guy measuring him said, and would sir like a kipper tie, and this brummie went "great two sugars please"
Been to Birmingham a few times. After negotiating the ring roads, I managed to get inside the Bull ring. Ugly on the outside but on the inside it is absolutely amazing. Having said that, I would not like to live in Birmingham due to its ring roads. The councils fault as affectively they cut up the area into little islands. The Metro transit service is good and the Centrocard is good value.
I went there last week as I was literally forced to. Otherwise I wouldnt go near the place. Its a violent, dingy little place with laughably little in the way of architechture or charm. It should be called Plebia, in my opinion for obvious reasons. I wouldnt bother with the place except we have to go there on business
Cheltenhams kinda nearish isnt it? I duno, doesnt seem so far on the train...well anyway im here in the west cun'rry wherre they talk loike this
They have a really excellent library in Birmingham, and it is probably the best public library open to any uk citizen in the country. The only other library that rivals it are academic libraries and even then they are a bit short in comparison, perhaps the British Library in london would be better but thats it. Usually for such a library you would either need to be a professional academic teaching at university, or have the permission of such an academic to enter. Also Birmingham was at the epicentre of "the arts and crafts movement" of which, Edward Burne Jones, and William Morris both lived there and in Wolverhampton. Birmingham also has some of the finest examples of victorian and pre victorion building and architecture in the country
