kissing with healing lip peircing

hey guys! i just got my lip peirced on friday, i would post a picture but im a really bad with computers and honestly probably couldnt even figure out how to get a picture on here.

my question is for people who have experience with oral peircings. i was told by my peircer that its best to "keep it to yourself" with both oral and genital peircings while they heal, but i didnt question him about it more throughly like i should have. im in a monogamous relationship so i wouldn't be exposed to lots of different people's saliva, but really 6-8 weeks is a very long time to not kiss! do you think it would be ok if we just both used an antiseptic mouthwash before hand or is it a big no-no?

and also, how long is it typical for the lip to be swollen. its only been three days but its still pretty puffy unless i take ibprufen (cant spell that but you know, advil) which i dont like to do. most aftercare sheets say "initially" but in your experience is that a few days or a few weeks or what. thanks for any help you can offer!

yeah i think the main concern is that you dont want to irritate it. after i got mine done i kissed my bf as soon as it didnt hurt to do so and nothing bad happened.
for the swelling, the best thing for my lip was a nice hot chamomile tea bag held to it for five or ten mins. chamomile is anti-inflammatory and it feels sooo good. i had this whole elaborate setup to hold it to my face so i could do other things lol i looked so retarded

 

I made out/gave oral within 4 days of getting mine done. It was a little sore but other than that all was well.

 

haha yea i saw my girlfriend for the first time today since i had it done and i ended up ignoring that recomendation, but it hurt to do anything except give a little smooch! so we found other ways to be intimate without kissing, exploring each others bodys and touching each other in ways we dont typically which turned out to be lots of fun. hopefully it wont be irritated anymore soon.

 

o and the chamomile tea bag idea sounds wonderful i will definitley try that before i go to bed tonight
