everytime i listen to the song Eskimo Blue Day, it pisses me off because i feel that the song could be so much better musically than it is. Jorma's guitar is screaming but the middle chorus ("change the notes....switch the strings") and the instrumental outro just annoy me. me and some friends wanted to cover this song, does anyone with some musical knowledge or w/e have any suggestions on how to improve it? also, does anyone else think that everything grace slick in this song makes perfect sense and kinda makes you realize what is important in the world compared to our silly problems...
I'm sorry, I don't have that song on any of my albums. Here is a link to the lyrics if anyone is interested: http://www.lyricsdepot.com/album/jefferson-airplane/volunteers.html
for trippy try the Baxter's album. now that is some awesome airplane. but to the original topic: I love eskimo blue day as it is. one of my favs of Volunteers (along with Wooden Ships) the middle section is a little weird lyrically (at least the first part) but i think it works for the song. how it sort of speeds up to segue into the next section then go back to the original pattern. it's a bridge. but thats just my opinion. and the outro works for me too. the cutting down trees fits with the mood of the song. i don't know how to play it but if i figure out any of it i will share. you should try to figure it out yourself. if you are gonna a be a musician you will need to develop your ear and the more you do it the better you get.
