Do you think asking if smoking pot is good overall in a marijuana forum is a good idea overall?

Yes, even though I didn't start this topic. I think people should examine their motives, reasons, purposes.

Nice beast in the photo. What's the breed? I've seen them here in the states sometimes.

I'm far from isolated. I interact with and care about people just like those I have described, whether entirely anti-pot, irresponsible with drug use, or just plain ignorant in some other way, they're still good, interesting people... just misguided..

I haven't given up, either... I argue what seems like several times a week with random "preps," hardcore Christians, and other people about why weed should be legal, and why punishment for its use is completely fascist. I reach out to very few, though, it usually ends up with them making a stupid generalization which concludes the arguement and allows their illusion to stand, which is why I see such a negative future up ahead.

telling you how i feel i think marijuana is a wonderfull idea, yet it is a life choice.. you cannot force someone to smoke it.. If you love the insight you get, or just like getting high marijuana isnt a bad idea. I have a bunch of friends who smoke it just to get high yet when i smoke marijuana i love the thoughts i get. It gives me insight to me marijuana is an amazing choice. Somthing i will clearly do.

    Depends on what he's after.

Most folks who ask such questions aren't really interested in honest, objective answers. The complete unwillingness by many here to confront and discuss potential negatives of marijuana use and why SOME people should never touch it will make it easy for anti-drug zealots to paint the whole legalization movement as something of a joke- not to be taken at all seriously.

Most people here are only interested in "yes-man" type responses and reflect the unwillingness or inability of most regular users to confront possible drawbacks to long term use. The delusional approach is equal to the unrealistic approach that the so-called "war on drugs" has toward this relatively innocuous plant.

I'm glad to hear that but I'm not so sure that the future is necessarily going to be negative. I think that a struggle in the courts, legislatures is what will have to happen. There can be small victories and with enough a large victory.

Just be careful who you talk to or write to about these sorts of things. Case in point: what happened to me when I signed a petition that was then sent to my congressional representative. He sent my name and address to the DEA who then sent me a letter correcting my "erroneous" ideas about industrial hemp and medicinal marijuana.

putting any sort of smoke into your lungs is not a good idea overall.. can lead to major health problems... but i smoke weed..

this goes for just about anything.. is not wearing your seat belt an overall good idea? no.. but hell.. there is the possibility that i could NEVER get in an accident.. so what would the purpose of wearing it have been?

I love marijuana, I love other drugs, I love mellow yellow and shakes, but everything has its drawbacks in life. You can't blame your problems on a drug, because it's your fault to begin with. On the otherside, addiction is powerful and you can't treat addicts like fucked up degenerates. They should be spending all that money they use fighting drugs, to treat drug addicts. ITS A DISEASE, and should be treated like any other.

I think that is a great thing for myself and millions of other Americans who enjoy it responsibly, but that does not mean that it is right for everyone.

hmmm.. HIV is a disease.. I don't see people shooting it up.. calling drug addiction a "disease" is bullshit.. you got yourself into the situation.. get yourself out of it.. or drownd... any reasonable person knows what happens with too much of anything.. if ya don't know any better... then they deserve to die

and the "treat like any other"... do you mean.. get them addicted to another drug.. legal in the eyes of the governement... for a couple years and then cut'em cold turkey so they go running back to their original addiction? You're a Herion addict.. well here.. take this Methadone.. its very similar to Herion.. but you're buying it through these companies that are ran by our government.. so its ok.. and in two years when you're no longer craving Herion we'll cut you off the Methadone and then you'll be fiending methadone.. so you will have no choice but to find more methadone or an alternative.. like Heroin

These people are sick, yes its there fault but they can't stop without serious withdrawl/cravings. I think there should be more money involved in helping them, not fighting them. Having something you can't stop and is killing you on the inside would qualify as a disease or sickness to me.

I think smoking pot can be harmless. Correction; using pot can be harmless...

Of course, smoking is no good for your health. The simple fact that marijuana can be vaporized and eaten with zero negative effects on your health is pretty damn convincing imo.

Like everyone has already said; if you cant control yourself with it, you shouldnt be using it to begin with. However, whats the worst that can come of it? The person will become tired, lazy, and eat a lot... There are a hell of a lot worse things people can be doing to themselves and others.

I always say this world has real problems.... marijuana is not one of them.

I certainly think cigarettes and alcohol are bad news, but using marijuana in a healthy manner (vape, eating), and refraining from (most) other drugs, is completely harmless.

I think moderate marijuana use (less than three times a week) is psychologically healthy.

For the record, I smoke marijuana more than three times a week unless I'm broke.
