hah, I know the feeling... I've got some uh, I have no idea what it's called, but it reminds me of Duplin's Wild Red Muscadine grapes, though it's an Italian wine. Costs the same as the wild grapes.

Lately, Beck's has been pretty good to me.

I think I've quit drinking liquor, unless it's the occasional mixed drink. I finally got my dad to quit drinking like that.

Sometimes drinking is all you feel like you can manage, but I don't like the lingering of liquor. Historically, liquor was made to be given to the dying and injured, on battlefields, and for treating wounds.

I can't stand Heineken. It's one of those overblown college beers and it tastes like skunk weed... and Corona is also one of those overblown college deals, but I don't think there's anything much better than a yoohoo (the chocolate drink) or a Corona, in the Summertime... or a boat drink.

Beck's, Heineken, and St. Pauli Girl, etc. are pretty much all brewed the same way, under the German purity ordinance of 1516. They're pretty much all intertwined and related, with the whole Brennan, Germany deal, in the same sense that I think Molson owns the contract to brew for Foster's North American division, in Toronto.

Those are alright for lagers (I can't stand American lager, sometimes), but I'm more of a Guinness drought/black and tan/ale/english porter kinda guy. I just prefer the milder, lighter, latte/coffee kind of taste that Guinness has, and it's only ten more calories than an American shit-lager.

I just don't like that beer in this part of the world is treated as if it were a soda pop. People are like "haha, I drank 30 beers last night!!!"

No wonder, Billy Bob, you were drinking Miller Lite, if you had real beer, you wouldn't have to drink that many or spend as much on it.

haha you have the wrong image of heineken. i don't know a single person who drinks it, based solely upon the extra 2 dollars a case.

we all like to stick to our pacific pilly microbrew thats like 5 dollars cheaper a case.

Well, it depends on what part of the world you go to...

I don't know many folks that drink it, but most of the people I know that drink it, seem to drink it at bars near overpriced private colleges.

and the two dollar more deal is pretty much in the same sense that Cantina is actually a bit bolder than Corona and costs less.

Well, that's because University is weird here. You have alot of the kids coming from upper-middle or ivy league upper families migrating down here trying to turn schools like Duke Unversity into Harvard or Yale, because the Northeast gets so crowded and elite in some senses. There's so much competing going on to get into the elite colleges, then the ones who don't make it end up going to the University of Virginia or William and Mary, since they're public, but so "old money", since they were two of the first real colleges in this country and I live in the America's first region (Hampton Roads).

That does say something... there are alot of good schools around here and they are in high demand, but it sorta puts the locals and people that grew up down here in a bind, and we end up going to North Carolina or some other state, because our own schools are overcrowded... both with grade school public school and public universities, then there are the military branches around Virginia/DC that bring more non-locals into the area and that can mess things up, especially when wars are going on and there are alot of families in VA that weren't here before 9/11 and the deployment.

Never raise your kids in a military/government community, unless you're in the military or have no other choice, unfortunately, my dad just got out of the coast guard when we moved here, and property was left to us, so we had no other choice. Navy squids and army brats really get on alot of people's nerves around here, though we do our best to support them all living here. It just annoys me when I see some officer or CIA agent's kid driving a BMW or Porsche, when his teacher is driving a Ford Aerostar or something, whining about respect and honor, because his daddy is a Brigadier General. I have nothing against the people just doing their job or struggling through the military as enlistments, but there is alot of societal injustice around here with such a large middle-class gap emerging and so many officers and gov't workers in the area. That's the kind of stuff you see migrating down here from DC/northern virginia.

I'm sure alot of Virginians will agree with me, in times like these.

Sadly, we already have people doing that.

There are a lot of positives though.

A lifestyle with no work, relatively little expected of you, chicks with the lowest behavioural standards ever, in quantity, and uhhh its sort of the last stage of your life where functional alcohlism is considered a positive personality trait.

I'm seriously depressed about it ending. Well, maybe not so much, but I think the late 20s will be a depressing time.

Right, unless you become a middle-aged parrothead, going to Jimmy Buffett concerts, and attaching your blender pitcher onto your gas powered weed eater/wacker, at concerts and selling margaritas, burritos, boat drinks, ice cream, dimebags, fruit baskets, home-published cookbooks, and other contraband.

Or you're some kind of head.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Some parrothead invented blenders.... always seen at concerts. Good for those quick drinks before jumping into your makeshift pool in the back of a pickup truck, or grilling some chicken on a makeshift sand beach, in the parking lot.

Unfortunately, I've diversified headiness... so I pretty much enjoy anything with some sort of grassroots cult following, I've done everything from Buffett to Phish.

I've been kinda getting into wine.. i like the buzz it gives me.. i conversate non stop and just feel really happy and slightly lightheaded and dizzy but without the splitting headache you sometimes get from drinking too much liqour.

And yeah, heineken is ok, guinness is better.. im really searching for a new beer since i have gone off steel reserves. i wish they sold stella artois over here =/

but yeah, my new favorite drink is tequila. oh, and orange juice mixed with rasberry flavored vodka is quite nice too..

i love having a boyfriend who is now 21.. the people at the liqour store actually know us by name... ahaha
