And now I've lost my faith. Logic and science cured my Christianity. I have a terrible feeling in the pit of my gut just thinking about this, but I don't think I believe in God... at least the Christian God anymore. Here is why. Sometimes I believe, most of the time I don't.... I keep going back and forth.

God is "perfect": why does he change his mind from old testiment to new testiment. Why does he destroy entire nations for no real logical reason except they're "sinners"

The Bible: This was translated and for a long time in the hands of the Roman Catholic church. This is the very same church who killed those who did not believe their teachings, same church who said if you didn't give money to them, that you'd be stuck in pergitory. Its stupid, I'll never be able to trust the bible. There are a million things in the bible that are bull and obviously go against science (the age of the earth for starters)

I could really go on, but I want to see where this topic goes before I continue. Thanks.

Because God didn't write the bible, humans did. Religions evolve the same way people do. There is no doubt that the concept of God has fueled the destructive tendencies of many men throughout history, but again this lies with humans and not God. Personally this is the way I look at all religions. The efforts of men and women to try and describe something that defies description. I think the people who claimed to write the words of God were simply writing from their personal experiences with the divine. If you seek out your own experiences as well they may be very different.

I've never been much for the church myself, too much politics. Of course I wasn't raised in that type of envirionment either. I'm sure it's hard to walk away from the religion you were raised with. From a non-Christian perspective I can tell you I have found a lot of good things in the bible, and I prefer the catholic bible to the protestant one for the extra books, but it's not something I would trust. It is a book after all, or a compilation of books. It is definately the last place I would look for teachings on science. As a source for spiritual inspiration however, I think it holds it's own. If you can read it with the thought in mind that it is not the be all end all of knowledge, and interpret it in a way that makes sense to you instead of the way you have been told to, you may regain your faith.....or not. There is nothing wrong with seperating from the flock.

agreed here on the interpretation, most churches imo are just taking another mans opinion on something and callin it the message, no questioning it or you burn in HELL... stupid. in my opinion wisdom and knowledge are just what they dosent matter what religion or culture holds it.

The Old Testament lays the foundation for and was meant to prepare the Israelites for the coming of the Messiah who would sacrifice Himself for their sins (and for the sins of the world as well.) The New Testament shares the life of the Jesus Christ and then looks back on what He did and how we are to respond to His gift of eternal life and live our lives in gratitude for all He has done for us (Romans 12). Both testaments reveal the same holy, merciful, and righteous God who must condemn sin but desires to bring unto Himself a fallen human race of sinners through the forgiveness possible through Christ's atoning sacrifice as payment for sin. In both testaments God reveals Himself to us and how we are to come to Him through Jesus Christ. And in both testaments we find all we need for eternal life and godly living (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

The Bible: This was translated and for a long time in the hands of the Roman Catholic church. This is the very same church who killed those who did not believe their teachings, same church who said if you didn't give money to them, that you'd be stuck in pergitory. First of all, don't throw the baby out with the bathe water. Every single person that God used in the Bible had an evil in their life. Lifewise those who formulated the Bible did wrong, that does not mean the Bible is wrong. That correlation does not work.

Also, today, the Jews are back in Israel... science never predicted that, but the Bible did in detail.

That is not congruent with what God has taught according to the Bible.
