They look really weird and feel even weirder !!!! really strange colours and layout, and they got a rough surface to touch - Of course the Queen still looks abot 19 years old, so theres still no realism crept into the establishment yet ! and theres weird symbolism like a £ sign that is back to front on the reverse side in red and white which matches up to the exact location on the front side where there is a £ sign the proper way round in blue and cream
is the surface "rough" per se or more "textured".... Australian bills are rubbery, and you can't rip them or crumple them.
Its got little textured number 20's but just higher up they have a sort of roughly textured patch of crosshatched background yeah I thought that too ! cuz in the original post I was going to write "all the colours are like what you'd expect on a scottish £20 - I think it is a bit of symbolic propoganda to show that the English monarch still rules scotland (its sort of dark green and dark blue - like thistles)
We have textured money too. And you're bills are really wide! It seems odd to me. We seem to moving closer and closer to having all change though. There has been talk of replacing the five dollar bill with another coin, becuase my purse isn't heavy enough as it is.
Actually I keep looking at the old 20 in comparison to the new one and I quite like the new one on the front but Adam Smith looks like someone just shoved a hot teaspoon up his ass - I really dont like the back of the note but love the front of it
If they bought out a £5 coin in England you can bet it would weigh about 5lbs as well Actually I dont know why they dont make our money out of plastic like in OZ where you cant tear the money - oops I just tore my new £20 note
I have heard lots about the new £20, but I still haven't seen one yet. It's all those Fifties I carry carry around
Well I'm not taking a teleological perspective on this. Of course the Enlightenment thinkers were progressive, and of course washing away the rump of the old aristocratic regimes in the face of capitalist progress was a positive step towards human emancipation. However, the net effect of his ideas world wide have been disastrous. Indeed many countries were better off under colonialism than neo-liberalism....
I think they should have put a picture of the queens grand-uncle, Kaiser Willhelm on the back so that we can be reminded of her German ancestry and how, between them, that german family got hundreds of millions of people klled in the 1st world war, because of some trifling little feud they could have sorted out amicably, if the royal families had not been a bunch of ignorant greedy and barbaric animals
you're gonna love this, my grandfather, an american GI in WWII, was of an illegitamate line to kaiser wilhelm. so it was a three-way family fight. my granpa was a dick, too.
I got a couple of the new notes last weekend from a bank machine. Had I got them from a person, I would have tried to give them back because I thought they were fake. My second observation was that it looks like it's getting closer to the Euro...
