I have 5 seeds that I have found in the bottom of a recently finished sack. I know that plating seeds you found in weed you bought aren't going to bring the best results, however I am simply carrying out a little expirement. Just to get the "feel" and process of growing before I spend the $60+ on seeds (internet source of course). I have currently placed these seeds in between two folded paper towels. I placed the seeds and wet paper towels in a ziploc bag, and the ziploc bag rests ontop of my computer monitor, underneath a sweater.
I have read that seeds can take anywear from 2 to 14 days to germinate. I noticed that the paper towels get dry, I was wondering if you should water them everday until the seeds start to sprout something.

is this the general rule of thumb? Or should I water ever couple of days?
    Thanks in advance.

I've always kept mine wet all the time, never let them dry out totally. And I don't know if the sweater on top is a good idea because they do need some air. I always put the lid to my carton on only half way so that the air can circulate and prevent mold. I don't germinate like this anymore, since I found I have pretty much the same success rate just dropping the seeds in the soil, but doing it this way I found was quicker sometimes. I'm just never in a hurry

hey man thanks, I put the sweater ontop because the paper towels would dry out out like every 5 hours, and I wasn't under the impression you needed to water every 5 hours, I guess you do?

I looked at my seeds today and they have gone from white to a darker brown, is this a good sign? Thanks again for all the help.

White seeds are usually immature BUT they might germ. The normal color is brown, but who knows maybe they had some resin on them from the baggie. They will swell a bit, then the pointy end should split a wee bit. Look for the tap root.

To keep the seeds moist pop the paper towel in tupperware and just open it twice a day. To check on the status, vent, and moisten. The baggie shouldn't dry out that fast but you are keeping an eye on them.

    Good Luck!

Yeah a came across a few of these seeds while breaking up buds, so they probably arent the best stuff to use. I have them in a tupperware with the lid just a creek open. Everything seems to be in order and the seeds have def. got a little biggger, and browner. If they dont sprout a tap root by monday then I'm probably just gonna ditch em and buy some real ones of the internet.

dont do this i have germinated seeds and nothing has happened for a week then over night they have germinated alot with a good couple of mil of tap root showing. u shud plant them when the root is not too big because danger of snapping is a big risk. if they hav swelled n turned brown they shud be fine nerly all the weed ive germinated and grown hav been seeds from my bud and i have neva had seeds that havn't germinated keep an eye on em and make sure there warm n moist at all times n they will germinate fine

All these were grown from bagseed! So don't let anyone tell you bagseed is inferior.

Warm enough is ok! I usually just germinate at room temperature (about 70f.) in the kitchen, on the counter - it works fine. In a cooler place some extra warmth would probably be needed. People use all sorts of different methods.

We usually put heating pad on LOW under them about 85F.
