Are you stoned right now? You seem to be slurring your writing...:) I think this is more of a personal decision then a religious one. If you want to get shit faced from time to time thats your business, it's certainly not evil. Smoke, drink, and be merry.

Well my first instinct is to get picky about the semantics on the question. I just don't see the logic in attaching moral judgements to an inanimate object/substance.
I agree the affects of alcohol can harm people, and it can be addictive, but that's where personal responsiblity comes in. The drink itself is amoral.

From what I recall of neo-wicca it errs on the side of caution regarding alcohol; but then I should imagine 99% of people who read those books are under 21, and it wouldn't help the authors' image to be seen to endorse underage drinking.

For others alcohol has often being connected with worship and revelry. Some of the Gods themselves appreciate offerings of alcohol. So I can't think of any paths that would object. As it is I'm following a Celtic path, so it's almost sacrelige not to drink lol.

So I think responsible drinking is fine if you wish to do that.

I don't take any intoxicating substance at all including pot. I only drink socially and I never get drunk. When I feel slightly light-headed I stop.

I don't think drugs are evil, but I feel they cater to the lowest common denominator. I don't even do a ritual less than 24 hours after drinking alchohol. Personally I like my brain to be as clear as possible. Besides I have had much more intoxicating effects from rituals, and they're much cooler and real.

Odinism supports drinking but clearly states that you shouldnt get too fucked up and always be ready for battle.

Celts fight better when we've been imbibing. So we do it a lot. Well not a lot, but we pass a Roman skull of libation at every ceremony with thanks to the Goddess. And more than one of our free Celts have gone to the battlefields of Pennsic with a belly full of the hair of the dog that bit him or her the night before...
