Has anybody ever had any experience with ghosts or demons? Do you think they exist? I stand strong that they do, even though I've had no interaction or sightings of that sort. It appears correct to me through some research. I think that ghosts are simply demons that are meant to scare people and distract them. Ghosts certainly aren't angels! Let me know what you guys think!
i believe in the possible, even probable existence of nontangable forces and beings, both great and small, but not in the pretentions of any belief, to having the slightest idea what the hell it is talking about, about them. i even have an invisible critter friend of somekind that curles up on top of my covers when i go to bed at night. i love the warmth and weight of its invisible company. i've also experienced what i've felt to be the company of other, as i say, nontangable entities, both great and small, and cannot say as any of them, have ever born the slightest resemblence to anything alluded to in the writings of any belief that i know of. possible exception being perhapse the little critter spirit messangers of shinto kami, and the species spirits of indiginous traditions. =^^= .../\...
Spirits yes. I don't believe most ghost stories though. This is for a couple of reasons. First, many sightings can be explained by more mundane means. Second, in my experience, most spiritual activity has nothing to do with someone who died on property (some do though), and most have nothing to do with ancestors (of course some do). People tend to create these overly elaborate stories, and frankly I don't believe most of them. The word "demon" comes from the Greek "daemon" which basically means spirit. Christians literally demonized many pagan gods as well as many spiritual concepts. I have some old grimoires - some speak of demons, and if you know anything about the old concepts of gods and planetary magic, you can see how they made these into demons. Incidentally, I have some Arabic grimoires from the 10th and 13th centuies(not the horrible Necronomicon) and they don't even mention demons. Today most people's concepts on demons are fueled by Hollywood and in some cases ideas that came from Victorian era books. It's so pervasive now that many people don't even realize this anymore.
What do they say. . . "Believe none of what you read and only half of what you see..." Well, in response to your question, I offer the following which I posted several years ago. As to the truth of ghosts and demons, I believe them to be personal truths - The Silversmith Ghost. By: hofner@earthlink.net. The Silversmith Ghost This story is true, and concerns my first close encounter with a materialized spirit. ... theshadowlands.net/ghost/ghost250.htm Cheers, and sleep tight! I. McLennon
That is my view too. I was told that there are no evil spirits, but that some of the spirits enjoy scaring folks. I have not seen proof of either, but I have seen other phenomena that is just as incredible, which allows me to believe people whom I know and trust when they swear they saw something ghostly. If demons are real, they are sure cowards, since I have called out and challenged one to face me countless times over the last 25 years, without any success.
My wife grew up terrified of demons. Her mother (imagine Carrie's mom, from the original Stephen King film) let her watch "The Exorcist" when she was about six. When the movie was over, she told the family that things like that really do happen and that if they ever backslid out of church then Satan could possess them in the same way. She would wake them up in the middle of the night praying loudly and "casting out" demons that were sitting on her children's bodies while they slept. Nice. I think "demons" represent a misunderstanding about mental illness (which my mother-in-law obviously suffers from). Personally, I see absolutely no reason to believe in ghosts, demons, or spirits of any kind. I believe in God as a matter of faith, but I do not believe everything people say about Him, and I would not expect to convince anyone of His existence. If you ever run into anyone pushing the King James Version of the Bible, ask them if they have also read King James' other book: http://www.watch.pair.com/daemon.html Then, ask them if they think that the person ultimately responsible for the Salem Witch Trials (and the torture/murder of hundreds of so-called "witches" in Europe) should be a person trusted with translating the word of God?
