    greetings... my name is sean. i have recently decided to purchase 20 acres of mostly wooded land in central (Lagrange to be exact) maine with the desires to organize a community based, self-sufficient village. i am an architect by trade and am currently building living spaces upon the land. i am striving to move to the property in may and am looking for others who have a desire to escape the daily grind and retreat to a beautiful maine environment we can build together, work the land together, and strive to establish a oneness with our natural surroundings together. all ideologies are welcome and i hope to start a dialoge with people prior to may. i look forward to hearing from any and all interested people....

    i am not looking to join a commune anytime soon (Husband and i would rather start our own here) but, you may want to post your views on;

    meat: if you eat meat?
    if so what types?
    How obtained (livestock or store)?
    are you opposed to hunting for that meat?

    goals for power supply?

    not that i know anything but when i read about communes i always need answers on those 2 issues.

    ok...thanks so much for the input there. as far as meat is concerned, i eat fish but not land meat. i, however do not have any pre-conceived notions heading into this venture and would view one's diet and all other lifestyle decisions as personal choice. fishing is abundant in the near by [size=-1]Piscataquis river.

    in regards to power, i currently use a generator powered via bio-diesel, which i must travel far and pay to get. i will begin the process of filtering used veg oil from local markets to maunfactor bio-diesel on site. the main source of power however, will be solar generated

    hey good luck the your plans!!! bio-diesel ive always loved watchin shows on that process, but it gives my husband ideas. maybe we can put them to use someday in the near future.

    I'm in Vermont, I'm looking to buy my own land eventually but the wife and kids are leaving for a week in April, I could go over there and help you for that time, i'm trying to gain experience.

    I've been looking for a commune for some time now, do you already have any flower children there?

    Hey, Rogue.
    I started getting into self-sustainability and organic agriculture a couple of years ago, and I've spent a little time working for some CSA's. I spent last summer at a commune down south, which was a terrific experience that I had been waiting a long time for.
    I've got two good hands waiting for some hard work, and a spirit that needs to live in community. If you'll have me, I'd love to come learn some life with you guys up there.

    I will be good to go after May 10th, not for sure that I would be staying for a long period of time but I could at least come help out for a couple weeks or a month, maybe longer, just no knowing...

    I've never done so before, but I'd definitely be interested in seriously trying out communal living. I live in Nova Scotia, not too far away. I'd like to know more!
