Does anyone have anything interesting to say? I've been reading quite a bit, and I was wondering if anyone has some ideas they would like to share.

i have the collectors edition DVD and they were talking about all the small things that someone could argue about between the movie and the bible. like, they said that Ving Rhames's character [cant remember the name] was the devil, and thats why his neck had a bandage on the back, to cover a 666. and that john travolta and samuel l. jackson were collecting souls, and thats why the briefcase lights up when they open it and when they shoot the guys in the beginning, theres a light shines too...i think there was more, but i cant remember

One theory I heard was that the briefcase contained Marsellus Wallace's soul, and that Sam Jackson and John Travolta were sent to collect it (because he's their boss).

The plaster on the back of the head was to cover a scar left after his soul was removed (this is meant to fit in with some aincent tradition or culture where they believed the soul could be removed from the back of the head).

According to IMDB: "The most persistent theory (most usually attributed to a friend of a friend who saw it posted on a message board by someone whose brother had read a report of a radio interview with Tarantino himself) is that it is Marcellus Wallace's soul. It is an ancient belief that when the Devil takes a person's soul, it is removed through the back of the head. When we see the back of Marcellus' head he has a Band-Aid covering the precise spot indicated by tradition for soul removal. Perhaps Marcellus sold his soul to the devil which would also explain why the combination to open the briefcase is 666. Or could it be simply a 20-watt light bulb?"

Tarantino himself won't say what it was, only that you're to make up your own mind.

The source I've been reading basicly says that in the bible, satan steals your soul via the back of your skull(apearantly this was in the bible); not only that, but I think that satan has actually trapped marcellus's soul in the brief-case(the code to open it was 666). Some other interesting things occured to me. Like when they're at the kid's apartment in the beginning, and vincent is looking for the brief case. He looks up first(heaven) but then the boy says it's below(hell). I think satan, via the boys in the aparment were keeping his soul close to hell. Also, about vince dying. I think what happened is that cause vince did'nt reconize that the "cannon" shots not hitting them because it was an act of god, he dies later on in the film, whereas Juels(sp) lives, because he belived in god.

What did everyone think of lance? I thought he was an obvious jesus figure, but I was a bit confused in the role he played in the film, as well has his biblical role compared to Mia(what biblical role did she play?) I can see how he brings her back from the dead(something jesus himself did), but he also killed her in the first place. It was he who had no balloons, which led Mia to belive it was cocain, and not heroin she had snorted. QT really gives a mixed message with the Mia/Lance situation

I'd also like to add the scene in the beginning, when they're talking about the other guy(i forgot his name) who touched mia's feet. I'm not sure about this, but I think that's considered Taboo in some religions, which could of possibly angered Marcellus(him being a definative god figure) Also, I think it could of meant that when he touched mia's feet, that could of symbolized them partaking in another religion(one of which touching the tops of someone's feet is a great praise--hindu or the other i think) which could anger him as well.

I can't remember which one, but there is for sure at least one culture in the world that view the feet as bad. closer to hell or something, where as your head is good because it's closer to heaven.

My own take on this however is that QT has a thing for barefeet (which I think he's admitted), so uses any excuse he can to have some dialogue about them added...

But lets not get into the foot thing ;)

Yeah, I've heard that's why he did the scene with Uma, where she sat in the car and wiggled her toes. I think the religion is buddism, cause I heard they pray with their feet sticking up, cause it's bad to let them touch sacred ground bare. Alot of those eastern/asian religions are big on feet.

One night after a meal Jesus is said to have got down on his knees with a bowl and towel and washed the feet of his closest friends. This was done to show love... So maybe the feet thing is nothing more than a fettish thing - unless of course Marsellus' didn't like the love being shown towards her.. if you know what I mean?

Try Ezekial 25:17. Different bibles phrase things a little different but they are all the same verses and have the same meanings. Depending on which one you check out, you may get an exact quote or something a few different words.

I have to admit that I've never read the bible. I plan to read the old testament (sp) at some point, but as a historical resource (not that in my opinion youll be able to take their word for it, but it's open to intrepretation, etc..). I don't care at all for the new testament so won't bother with that.

As for the source of information? My friends wesbite: http://www.fuchsiashockz.co.uk/personal/faith/searching%20and%20sacraments.shtml (where it says foot washing) he's a christan and a member of the jesus army (or something)...

I see you have never looked it up. I am not saying it is phrased differently, I am saying that is not there. The closest it comes is it does include: "and you will know I am the lord". in order to even come close you have to read all of ezekial 25, but nowhere does any verse or combination of verses, say anything that could be construed as what Samuel L Jackson quotes.

but on another note, that Big Kahuna Burger is the best, most tastiest looking burger I have ever seen on a screen, big or small.

I've talked about this movie with my youth pastor, and he has this theory (actually, I'm sure it's not his theory, since he also thinks that The Matrix is one of the greatest movies of all time with the most amazing ideas he's ever heard) anyway, that inside the briefcase is the light of God, and it's Vincent being saved or something when he opens it...or...i'm not really sure of the specifics.

And the Big Kahuna burger did look QUITE tasty...and I'm a vegetarian.
