hello all i just bought a house in Georgia and well i have a bit of an infestation of carpenter bees and red wasps. i have asked around to see what would the best thing to do and well so far the only sensible thing that sounds like it will work is filling in the holes. last night we had an exterminator come over and spray chemicals but that didnt work cuz we found 5 or 6 new holes in the garage door frame and there are still more. i am going to try to use a bit of soda and water in a cup to see if that will attract them away from the house. if any one has some good advice please let me know i would be so gratefull and happy. thank you so much

hi, fallen, i do have some advice some you may not be cool whith but its better than the poisons that the exterminator dude sprays! first how is your house seald, protected frome the elements? ie, paint , stain,? how long since it has been painted or stained? i ask because it matters witch method you should try. do you own or rent?some landlords might get angry if not consulted first! anyway bare or dry staind wood can be retreated with a mix of deisel and used moter oil, experiment with the mix for coler the trick is the used moter oil, but if you need a more ceder tone mix deisel with transmission fluid the red colerd type, (cant remember if thats ford or chevy) boric acid also works well in certain apllications, i and every one near me have the same prob. the used moter oil thing sounds stinky, but it only lasts for a few days till it dries up! if your in a rural area ask an oldtimer about it.it lasts longer than most stains easy to apply and a whole lot cheaper than going to the paint store! plugging the holes will only kill the baby if you do it at the right time but the damage is already done they dont use the holes twice! if you plug it before its finished they will just make another! the red wasps you mention are they mud wasps taking advantage of the old holes? or are they building paper nests? anyway good luck message me if you have any questions! peace!
