I'm not sure if somebody already posted this, but I'll post it again. What's your favorite Bible verse? What scripture gets you through the hard times? Mine is: "sing unto God, sing praises to His name; extol Him that rideth upon the Heavens by His name Jah, and rejoice before Him" Psalm 68:4 KJV
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John 4:7 God bless
Jesus said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty." Gospel Of Thomas Verse 3
"You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "Let me remove the speck from your eye"; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. (NKJV) peace, love all
And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; 40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. 41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. 45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. 46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. 48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. 49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. 51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. 54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; 55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.
Those are great, but faves? II Samuel 12:7, 'You are the man.', or KJAV 'Thou art the man.' Psalms 82:6, 'I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the most high.'
"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."--John 16:33 "Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love."--1 Corinthians 13:13
In my entrance hallway, there hangs a piece of art which is only a border and a quote from the bible. It says 1 Corinthians 13 at the bottom, and thanks to your post, I know that it is actually 13:13, which is significant to me. Thirteen is a superfluous number in my life. It is notable that three bibles have three different versions, though, and the KJAV is quite different, and doesn't even have the word love, but has the word charity in its place. I could quote some Genesis which clearly shows Adam and Eve had neighbours, one of whom Cain married, but since it is on page 7, every Christian must know there were other folks around in the days of Adam and Eve.
1 1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat mourning and weeping when we remembered Zion. 2 2 On the poplars of that land we hung up our harps. 3 There our captors asked us for the words of a song; Our tormentors, for a joyful song: "Sing for us a song of Zion!" 4 But how could we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land? 5 If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither. 6 May my tongue stick to my palate if I do not remember you, If I do not exalt Jerusalem beyond all my delights. 7 Remember, LORD, against Edom that day at Jerusalem. They said: "Level it, level it down to its foundations!" 8 Fair Babylon, you destroyer, happy those who pay you back the evil you have done us! 9 3 Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock. such a nice song until you get to the infanticide.
