Gay bands/artists?

Anybody know of any good gay bands or artists? I already listen to Tegan and Sara, and have a few elton john songs, but I'm curious to see what else is out there.

And i'm not implying gay as a genre (although one tegan and sara song i downloaded came with the default genre of 'lesbian'. i got a little laugh out of that.)

 

Rufus Wainwright - singer/songwriter. He's great.

Sigur Ros - the lead singer is gay. They're an Icelandic post-rock ambient-ish band that I absolutely adore.

Those are two that I can think of right off the top of my head... If I think of more, I'll post again.

The lead singer of Judas Priest is gay

Also I refuse to believe Tim Kinsella is entirely heterosexual. All his lyrics are incredibly homosexual, and he has a degree in Womens Studies of all things.

 

I only heard that recently, it's like he's so girly you don't even think about him being gay as well. Agaetis Byrjun [EDIT'd because of Mactardation] is an excellent record.

Personally, as a gay man, I always found that the music of Patti Smith and the band James always really resonated with me. Rufus Wainright is another favorite - just give a listen to the song "I Don't Know What It Is." What a great anthem!

Jónsi is gay? Seriously? That makes Sigur Rós even more awesome! By the way, the lead singer of Broken Social Scene, who are excellent, is gay.

re: Broken Social Scene, I know this makes me a MASSIVE wanker and all, but having heard about them over the years, I'm now going to check them out JUST because the dude is a gay.

 

Awesome! I didn't know that. My friend actually just showed me one of their albums recently, and I really like it.

omg i didnt know ricky martin was gay! and I absolutely LOVE the scissor sisters. filthy/gorgeous is a fabulous song.

 

A couple songs, such as "I'm Still Your Fag," refer directly to homosexuality, and a number of others indirectly reference it, such as "Lover's Spit," "Cause = Time," and "It's All Gonna Break."
