    Its origins?

    Any theories?

    the word comes from Lesbos Island, which is a greek island obviously somewhere near greece. haha. hmmmm i learned about this in history class...
    there was a female poet i believe that lived there, and it was said that most of her poems were about relationships with women, sexual or not. and i think there were large communities of women livin on the island
    i suppose i could google it, but tyring to remember is half the fun... fuckin school.

    Her name was Sappho which is why lesbianism is also called sapphism. Her poems are basically our earliest written records of same-sex relationships between women.
