I think I'm going to start taking a few naps every day instead of sleeping. I feel like I'm missing out on things by sleeping 8 hours straight. I mean, that's 1/3 of the day.

Hey, da Vinci did it. Dali...lots of amazing people did it. Look at all that Dali accomplished! Ben Franklin, Tesla, Napoleon, Thomas Edison...:) Wow. These are 'wow' people.

    Polyphasic sleep...I'm gonna try it.

"Polyphasic sleep is a term used to describe several alternative sleep patterns intended to reduce sleep time to 2–5 hours daily. This is achieved by spreading out sleep into short naps of around 15–30 minutes throughout the day, and in some variants, a core sleep period of a few hours at night.

The process of adapting to a polyphasic schedule can involve a mentally and physically very difficult one- to two-week transition period, especially for the variant known as Uberman sleep. Thereafter, independent testers claim to experience no apparent drop of cognition or alertness, despite the few hours of sleep attained each day. On the other hand, polyphasic sleep typically requires adhering to a rigid schedule, which makes it unfeasible for many people."

    I love wikipedia.

ive tried it, its fucking hard...u get really easy lucid dreams and increased chance of obe's...tottaly worth the effort..in fact im gunna give it a try again... a word of advice, to help u get adjusted, dont depend on actually sleeping, for the first few days expect to just lay down instead of nap, eventually ure body will adjust... doesnt this belong in the dreams section?

i dont think it's the best option
    good sleep is necessary
you may take a nap, say, 3-4 times a week,eh?
coz napping all the time will damage your health

I love my eight hours of sleep! :) Most of the time during the week it's not more than seven hours though.

Napping seems worth a try, but I don't have the time during the day to take several naps every now and then anyway. Or I have to take one during class haha.

hm...I don't think it's damaging to your health. your body automatically goes into REM sleep once it's adjusted to the new sleep pattern. REM is the type of sleep your body needs to rejuve and refresh.

Wootier-haha, yeah...I tried sleeping for 30 mins this morning. Just ended up resting my eyes. I could NOT get to sleep. and..I don't know where this belongs...this decision more about my lifestyle than sleep, really. About getting more out of life.

Yeah Asmodean, I don't have time today to take a bunch of naps...six hours from now I'll still be in class. But I mean, once I'm home I figure I'll take an hour nap...then maybe catch an hour before midnight, and again at 6 a.m. It's all about laying out a schedule...now let's see if I can stick to it. :p

thats an awesome idea! i nap all the time as it is, of course because im always tired and laying down makes me all sleepy. it would work out, probably get myself more motivated or something, haha.. good idea, indeed.

Seriously, I really AM more motivated. It's because if I stop moving and just sit still I get super sleepy...but as long as I'm doing something I'm not drowsy at all. haha, all of my laundry and dishes are done. AND my room's clean! Wow. And I've gotten more artwork done in the past 24 hours than I've done in the past month.

i believe that it will be hard untill you get used to it. after that it will be absolutely normal for your body.
    i wouldn't try it anyway...i like sleeping :)
    good luck anyway :)

lmao, I remember that episode. :)

So this morning at school was kind of rough. The two classes I had were the most boring I've ever had to sit through...I had to leave and walk down the hall to the bathroom to splash some cold water to wake me up. It was fine as long as I was taking notes, but then when they started lecturing...found myself drifting off.

I took a nap when I came home though, so I'm totally juiced up now. Ready to roooockkkk alllll niiiiiggghhhhhhtttttt! :)

I have never tried doing this, but if it is possible you will have to gradually get used to the changes.
But honestly I think you will drop it in the next few days, sorry but its my opinion.
    Good luck any way !!

If I were trying to adhere to a super strict schedule of naps...yeah I'd drop it in a few days.

But I'm not going by any schedule...I'm listening to my body. And when I get super tired I lay down for an hour or so.

Way too early in the game to see if this'll work out or not. So far I like the results.

This has been a trip. But it's starting to take its toll on my health. I'm constantly freezing because my temperature refuses to regulate, I feel sick and dizzy every now and then, I forget more stuff than usual and I have zero appetite.

On the plus side, I've felt like I was high for a few days now. The dreams have been fantastic. It's like whenever the native americans would go out into the woods and fast and not sleep so that they could have visions.

I don't regret doing this and I'd definitely do it again (maybe durign the summer with a group of people. for like a week or two.) but I don't want this to be my permanent sleeping pattern.

Yeah, I think it's better to try it when you can schedule your whole day. I can imagine the high part. I'm so stuck on my sleep pattern that I really feel different if I can't sleep about 5 hours in a row, in like 40 hours.
I have no problem when I change that by sleeping during the daytime though. Did that a month long last summer when I did night shifts on a vacation job and I loved it. More free time in the afternoon as well when I got out of bed on time. And it payed more :)
