I got my period this morning actually this afternoon at 1 when I woke up, a couple weeks after I was expecting (hoping for) it. Still much more regular than I used to be, so I guess I can't complain about that. Anyway, it started this morning, and I noticed just as it was starting, when it seemed really light. It did not stay light for long. It's really really heavy now, 6 hours later, and I'm cramping BAD. To top it off I'm nauseous and having an extremely hard time holding anything down. Every time I get up I get so dizzy I think I'll fall. Any of these symptoms are usual for me, just not to this degree. I don't know what to do. I can't remember the last time I felt so weak... I'm drinking water, as much as I can hold down, and I took a multivitamin with iron this morning. If I can hold anything down to eat, I'll probably have a bunch of steamed spinach before long. Does anyone have advice for me here? Ian just got home and commented how pale I look, and he's worried.
Ginger to calm your stomach, or some herb if you can handle it. Keep with the lots of water. Iron in multi-vitamins can irritate your stomach, so once your stomach has settled, get iron in you some other way than a multi-vitamin. Bitter dark chocolate is always a good one for muscle cramps and weakness in me. Other than that, take it easy and lots of good vibes!
I used to get this all the time... Every month for a LONG time... I would eat light foods (liked steamed veggies, and as Holly said, a bit of dark chocolate. I also ate lots of citrus, which helped calm my stomach), drink tea, and get the nearest person to give me a back rub. This didn't give me energy, but it helped me relax so that I could get some decent rest. Do you have a fever at all?....
yoga might help your cramps. you probably feel too nauseated for that though, so just lie down and stretch your belly out. eat green beans and have some caffeine.
