When you tell other people of you stance on religion, what is their reaction? Most people I tell to that I am athiest/agnostic seem to think that that means that I have no morals and no respect and am a "heathen". I don't understand why not believing in a good would make me have less morals. I am a good kind person and I live a good life. I treat people around me better than most Christians I know. I would never harm another person unless I or someone I loved was in danger. I give money to the poor when I can, even though I myself am broke. I buy breast cancer support bracelets for 5 dollars and I try to lend a kind ear to everyone. If anybody needs to talk I am there. I help everbody I can and give only the best of advice. I love animals go out of my way to feed strays. I give my friends backrubs and tell them how much they mean to me without expecting anything in return. I am open minded. To me it seems religion just complicates things. Most religious people I see are so against everything that is not what they believe in. They are close minded and filled with fear and hate. They are afraid of their god. I think that if you are to believe in anything it should be something filled with love and compassion. You should not fear your maker, you should embrace him/her. That's why I am not religious. I have yet to find a religion of love and understanding. Some of the eastern religions come close but nothing is perfect for me. And I think I should only find religion if it fits me like a glove. I refuse to put my heart into something that I do not fully agree with. I tell this to people and I still get the same spiel about "God" this and "God" that. "You're going to hell, you non believer". "You're a heathen with no morals".
Goddies deserve to be humoured (if not mocked outright) and should they prove injurious, they should be left out entirely. Religion is for the sick.
I just don't care about their reaction. Religious beliefs are superstitious and the result of poor education, hallucinations, or a natural tendency towards irrational thought. If they want to keep being irrational douschebags and cling to stupid beliefs that make as much sense as invisible pink unicorns and flying spaghetti monsters then fuck them. Of course if it's for a job interview or something then just play along. I've made a lot of writings about religion, agnosticism, and atheism. If you guys want me to then I'll post them here.
No, this is also what I'm talking about. You guys saying that is no better than them judging me. I think we're all free to believe whatever we so choose. I see no right and wrong when it comes to theology. They're free to believe in god, and I'm free not to. It seems that maybe humans are just a judging, spiteful, hateful species and I should just deal with it, but it shouldn't be that way. I am so sick of all the hate and judgment and I am sick of living in this world full of pain and terrible things. It never ends.
Religion is not just for the sick. I've seen religion do alot of good as well as the bad in this world. Some people really find help through a god, and a plan. I know people who were spiraling out of control with drugs and depression and used religion to help them get on their feet. I know people who've gone to religion for the right reasons, such as beauty or a moment where thet felt that god touched them. I don't think those are sick reasons. I think those are wonderful. It's just personally not for me. Religion is good if used for the right reasons.
Smellysocks Well, I'm for judging. Lack of judgement leads to most human miseries. When it comes to theology, I overlook it (as imperiously as theology tends to overlook human greatness) for philosophy You lack faith in god, so hold onto your faith in human personality you young heathen! Ugliness, pain, disgust, they haven't yet deterred joyfulness. I've not yet seen religion do anything good for the healthy. Art can be beautiful, and transformative, but religion always comes from illness and declining life, no matter how it may aid the same. Thank god You're sweet, and you make me feel old and uncompassionate, but wise, wise and wicked! Thank you!
Religion, phylosophy, agnosticism and atheism are expression of uman life and we have to respect each of them. So we have to note that with the progress some of them rise in quotation and other lose. But we have to think that most of people in the world believe in something that is religious. In this life, in this time and probably for other thousand of years you have to confront with religious thought. So, also if you define yourself agnostic or atheist, so you deny that something else could guide or determine your present, past and future life, you have to confront everyday with the expression of your life. You have to think about the meaning of your life in that time, with the meaning of things that surround you ( other animals, the infinite universe, the time ) and you will find very difficult to offer an answer with the concept of agnosticism and atheism. Remember that with this word you deny something else, putting your thought in the same dimension, but not giving another meaning or another answer at this question: why this happen???. :& :& :& sorry for my english it's my first message in this forum
beliefs are between the believer and the believed in. not the coercive feelings and emotional attatchments that affect how people behaive toward one another. i don't go arround making an issue of what i do and don't believe in, unless asked. and if a person actualy wants to know, an honest curiousity will treat its gratification dispassionately. those one the other hand, with their own axes to grind, have their own problems. they are welcom to seek the help of their pshrinque and or their god(s) as they see fit. none of us, myself included, are so infallable as to be a useful guide to any sort of ascendent authority. the best we can hope for is to avoid the pitfalls of self deception. everything else, may or may not exist, as IT sees fit. whatever our own inclinations might or might not otherwise be. =^^= .../\...
How do people react when I tell them that my entire system of worship is based around having sex with the Jesus? They run away.
Two topics I generally avoid are religion and politics-both are sure ways to start an arguement very quickly-people tend to have a lot of passion towards whatever their belief is and are not usually open minded at all. I am very curious about religions, but I find that many who are of a particular faith are very closeminded and do not at all come off as following the teachings of their "faith" or God or whatever term you/they choose to use.
mackadamia Agnostics are just budding atheists who are uninitiated in the mysteries of sex or bong hits with the jesus.
Nobody fucks with the Jesus. And that's not very accepting of them. Those judgemental bastards. Butt sex with the lord is a most holy and respectable thing. This is exactly what I am talking about.
Its a shame when you realize how pathetic people really are. How one can allow the faith of another actually bother them is beyond me, and in reality is extremely childish. Anyone who judges another does so out of insecure feelings of fear of their own misguided attempts to tell themselves that they actually know something, and they all fail miserably. Atehiest or religious, anyone who puts another person down for something that is a personal belief is a sad, sad individual. Why not, I dont know, go lift some weights? Why not, quit jerking off in your moms basement and go out and meet some people. I wonder, just HOW many people do you (the judges on this thread)know who are religous? Becuase I know plenty of them, and less than 1/2 of them are fanatic, judgemental people who verbally assault non-believers. So, either you people have no actual real life experience, or you are living in some pretty fucked up area filled with ignorance. Nobody ever judges another out of any other motive but fear, which in this case, means insecurity. You are the people who fear god, and if you dont fear god, you fear gods followers, and if you could look past Christianity you might realize that their are followers of god out there who do not have to fear him to know him and to love him, and to be loved by him. BTW, if you are having trouble understanding what my message here is, it is that you are all equal when you judge someone on their faith, no matter what you believe, and thank GOD people like you are put to shame and never amount to anything in life, allowing the oopen minded people of the earth to continue to run the show on the mass level.
My god, after 34 years of wandering this planet, you havent met enough people yet to show you that there are open minded spiritual and religous people?! I must live in fucking paradise then!
You feel wise?! Wow I wish my mind could be so easily lied to and entertained to make me satisfied. Whats your secret? haha religions comes from illness and declining life? What the fuck man haha what are you, 12 years old? That is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. Sure, there are little to no atheists in a foxhole, but that has nothing do with the BILLIONS of people who are at the prime age and health of their lives who are living according to certain paths of many religions. This ignorance, I dont know if you are just trying to be funny, but that has to be one the most closed minded statements I have ever read.
RELAYER Laughter Maybe you have not taken into account that I am speaking of health overall, including that of the mind. Perhaps I am fishing for cases, however unlikely, that do not fit my closed statements?! As a fellow warrior, I say to you, you must think first, before you move. And since I take it you believe in god, I heartily invite you to partake of my enormous intellect, and stop it. lol
