I have VERY bad dermatitus on my hands that wont seem to go away... its from cleaners and prolonged exposure to water... wearing gloves doesnt help because the sweat that gets held against my skin makes it worse.... and im alergic to latex and the powder found inside most gloves... the medication i get from the dermatologist helps but only for so long untill my body gets used to it and it comes back twice as bad... for anyone that has had dermatitus knows its painful and really gross looking..... any ideas?????
Ouch, that sounds painful! Here is a recipe from a livejournal group I am on, if you make this, be sure to patch test it before going all out. This seems to have worked for people though: http://www.ridleyfamily.org/cora/salve.html I have dermatitis on my ankle and it itches like crazy!! I don't know why I am getting it now, but it is really uncomfortable, so I may have to try and make some salve if I can find those ingredients...
I've had ezcema all my life, so I really feel you pain here. You need to keep your hands moisterized at all times. One natural way is to use coconut oil. Above 75 or so degrees, it remains a solid, but easily goes on. There are some creams made from beeswax but I have trouble finding those. The co-op I use sells the wax by itself to be made into a cream, but I haven't made any myself yet. Burdock root is good for the skin. You can make a salve out of it. You could also probably make some tea and let the wet herb set on your skin. I used it and three other herbs in a tea twice a day. But I'm trying to recover from many years of skin issues. The other herbs are yellow dock, yarrow and marshmallow. They are mainly used as blood purifiers since my body doesn't process things right and uses the skin to get rid stuff. There's a place in Canada that mails out a good natural cream. I can llok it up if you interested.
Another good thing to take internally would be Borage oil. Its great for all kinds of inflammatory conditions.
thank you all! i was doing some research online and i found that it may be " occupational dermatitus" you get it from working with chemicals like i did at my job when i was still working and im stuck with it for life.... not to say my hands will be like this forever but as long as my hands go untreated it will get worse and even spread and getting them wet and the combination of soap is what does it... so looks like ill be investing in some silicone gloves after my hands have healed... my doctor is actually trying to fight it from the inside this time.. prescribed me cortisone so maybe the new approach will help! thanks again!!
Do be careful with the steroids. While they will help you heal much faster, they do have alot of side effects. I have taken them many times since I was a teenager and suffered from the side effects. I know sometimes I have no other choice, but I really try to find other options. Hopefully the gloves will keep the chemicals fron getting to your hands.
Cortisol is terrible, but I am ashamed to admit I take them for my asthma Make sure you eat healthy foods and excersize as it can affect your weight.
i had chemical induced dermatitis about 5 years ago?? caused by accidentally leaving chlorine on my skin if you want to get rid of chemically induced dermatitus you need to buy something called .. Denis Stewarts GA cream (it is a white cream) you should be able to buy this stuff online its about 20 bucks australian it cleared the dermatitis (bleeding and cracked) in about 2 days , it has never back. i'm probably wasting my time telling you this because you'll probably never follow this lead but good luck with your problem all the same.
thanks guy! im going to do a google search for the cream and try to find it... im ready to try anything... this cortizol suckssss... if i miss a day of medication...even when its cleared up it comes back twice as bad... twice as fast!
the ga cream comes in a white form - ga cream and a brown form - compound cream my own experience is that the white stuff is better chances are you will be sourcing this stuff from australia i was out and about travelling recently and discovered to my surprise that denis stewart has the unofficial titile of god father of australian herbal medicine
my ex and my young son have dermititus i have found the best preventers are 1. to have vegetables and fruit every day and 2. to have plenty of sleep i have heard 'jewel weed' is a good cure...i think you can get it at chinese herbalists stress definately makes the condition worse so try to stay as calm as possible
