TheRed's Great Bong Creation Project

I have \/ this \/ thing that I want to make into a bong. phone is for reference.



The problem is that I've never used a bong, and I only know a bit about how one is even used, so I don't have any idea of how to go about making one out of this. It's fired clay, glazed on the outside.

1) Could it even work?
2) What materials would I need?
3) How would I proceed in bongizing it?

It's kind of a neat story how I got it. In 7th grade my art class went on a field trip to a local potter's shop. He was showing the class how he makes stuff on the wheel and I randomly asked if he could make a soda bottle, which he obviously could. Just before we left I asked him how much it would cost. He told me a finished piece like that would cost between $100-$200, but he could give it to me pre-fired for $5. I glazed and fired it at school, but it didn't turn out Mt. Dew colored like I had wanted, so it's been sitting in my room for years.

That thing is the Dodge Caravan of phones.

At what height should I make the hole (basically how high do you fill a bong with water)? Should I get a bowl from my local headshop first to make sure I get it right?

The best info I have on how to use a bong is you insert the bowl, light it, inhale, then take the bowl away to make a sort of carb, and get the hit. If I'm wrong it could kind of fuck things up.

 

I say find a website that has detailed pictures of how a bong works, and just build one from that info.

 

get a glass down and drill a hole. put the down through the hole and fill with water

I think you'd need maybe a bit of rubber to seal the hole. I make one with a trombone mouthpiece and a bottle every once in awhile. not that hard to do.

 

dont get one from your head shop if your gonna make one, thats no fun, put the carb (little air hole) low enough for as big as your chamber to be(lower=more air) and as high up as you want the filtration to be (higher=purer) so low is for quantitiy and high is for quality, i make mine about five eights up the side but whatever works.

For diagrams just google like bong blueprint or anatomy of a bong, theres some really good sites.

You mentioned that you would put the pipe in the carb, if thers a long stem that might work but it works a hellalot better if the stem and bowl are one thing and the bottom of the stem is at the bottom of the water.

The bong is for filtering the impurities of the smoke, don't drink the water because this defeats the purpose, if you do any research you can find an amasing amount of info on bongs and whatever else you want, dont be too quick to make a thread of it.
