Ha! See yourself squabbling here. We have a Reich to unite. Dimmu Borgir was crap last time I saw them, but I suppose it's hard to be crap ALL the time.

Wow. They're going to bring out a new album too. So far I've got all of them. I hope it's going to be better than the last one. I can't dispute it technical perfection, but it didn't have that 'spark'. 'It'. 'the X-factor'. 'Idol-potential'. Whatever. I'm stoned and rambling.
Nowadays I only dig Stormblast of Dimmu Borgir. Well, Enthrone darkness is still ok too. I saw them one time at Wacken at 2 a.m and one time at Lowlands in full daylight, guess which show was better.
You don't know metal. And call me "child" one more time I'll knock your teeth down your throat. Motley Crue is metal. Ratt is Metal. Black Sabbath is metal. It may be a different kind of metal than the shit you listen to, but it's still metal.
I'm not seeing those bands als metal neither, but I don't care. More than 50% of the bands named in this topic aren't heavy metal.
Is 'Trash Metal'? & 'Nu Metal'? the same as Heavy Metal?.Forgive my ignorance, I'm from the 'oldie committee' on here that only understands the original definition of 'Heavy Metal' as being Motorhead,Deep Purple,MC5,Led Zeppelin,Hendrix etc. I used to be into that type of genre but nowdays I appreciate music generally:-regardless of it's label.Although preferably:1950s-60s-70s.
There are endless discussions going on on this subject. Especially in regard to nu-metal. Does the thread starter mean heavy metal as in the entire genre of metal, or did he only mean those that stayed true to the roots and didn't end up in one of the branches branches (subgenres as nu- and thrash metal). I do not know which he meant. And, then there's the general opinion on splitting the gernre in so many different substyles. Some on the one hand say that all metal can be incorporated into the single concept of 'heavy metal'. Then on the other hand there are those who don't think so, and among them then still ranges the question whether or not nu-metal should be seen as an actual genre of metal. I can't remember what I meant to say with this.
Yeah well, those bands you named all made heavy metal at some point (not sure about Mc5). Deep Purple didn't at their first albums and me myself can't call Led Zep heavy metal for instance, so I just leave that alone. But newer genres are other kinds of metal, altough it is heavy music The origin of metal lays in hard rock and heavy metal, after that other subgenres of metal came up, making heavy metal a subgenre. Of course there are also crossovergenres, like thrash/heavy metal, speed/heavy metal, power metal still sounds like heavy metal. It just doesn't really matter. For me heavy metal is a kind of feeling/atmosphere that has to be in a bands music.
Who can survive without rocking their brains out their nose every once in a while. I love classic rock, but metal is my pain drain
Metal is a hard genre to place bands into sometimes, though i can say with pure confidence and certainty that motely crue is by no means metal. Sorry dude, but 90% of the bands you listed arent actually metal. There are many many subgenres within the blanket genre that is considered metal. Everyone has different tastes and preferences. People listen to the music that they find what theyre looking for in. Most assuredly Lamb of God and many of the other bands Metallideth is so blindly bashing are gods in their field. What makes a band long lasting and quality if their hard with and originality they put into what they do. Unfortunatly the genre of metal has had many many more failure (shitty) bands than good, but that can be said of any genre i suppose. Whenever a truly original band comes out there are hundreds of copy bands to follow, this makes it hard to keep a pure view of the quality in a style of metal and more importantly in a bands efforts. In short, dont be haters, dont argue over genre placements, it doesnt matter. You can argue that sort of stuff till ur a bloated seman filled corpse and it wont make a difference.
