Kill it before it kills you! It's addictive and evil and spewing lies. We need to smash the tvs and then we can smash the state. Free yourselves, tv is slavery... I know I just got free!
Yes, you're right. It is addictive. Unfourtunately, I'm addicted. But lately, I've been trying to listen to music more often and watch tv less. I guess I like watching what I consider interesting stories, as it helps me escape my low moods.
Not sure I'd *kill* my tv, but yea I don't really watch it anymore. You can get pretty much any source of entertainment on a computer (music, comics, news, movies, games and even some tv shows) most of it is free too
I came into this thread hoping to find a post like this. I have been trying to convince the wife to chuck the TV out the door for a year or so. I cant think of one thing that I really enjoy watching on TV. For the most part she has it on in the back ground. I would much rather eat dinner at the kitchen table with some good toons on than the boob tube in going in the back ground. You should give it a try sometime. You may stumble across a good conversation.
Yesterday in the town I go to college in there was a new Ed major doing his student teaching in a local school. On his VERY FIRST DAY of teaching, a little boy brought in a knife with the intent to kill his friend, who had stolen his fourth grade girlfriend. Also found on the boy was a book of matches, which he said he was going to use to set his friend on fire after he killed him. The icing on top of this sick cake? The boy had seen all of this on South Park. Side note: the local newspaper didn't list why the little boy brought a knife and didn't even mention the matches. And there was no mention of South Park, either. TV IS A SICK, SICK INVENTION THAT'S DESTROYING THE MINDS OF AMERICANS.
T.V. can be nice to look at rented movies, but asides of that it's pretty much stupidity. When you attack, entertainment strikes back!
You know, I would kill my television if it wasn't for "The Wonder Years" airing again and rented movies. I do not pay any mind to the other garbage it spews out.
When I moved out, I left my TV behind. I think it was the best decision I've made in a long time. Granted, I still have my laptop, but killing my TV helped me be more creative and analytical And my friends all flip out when they realize that I don't have one... *gigggles*
too bad that television is the way it is, because it could be such a beautiful medium, to spread all these good vibes. instead of that it has become the most mindnumbing medium of all time and a icon of western mindless consumerism
Congratulations to all who have succesfully kicked this horrible addiction! Over the last year I've been slowly but steadily weening myself off using books, music, instruments, excercise, and good old fashioned thinking. I'm down to mostly only the history channel, the discovery channel and adult swim. I don't feel too bad about those, history and discovery can actually be beneficial and thought-provoking. I really do like the idea of just not having a tv at all though. oh well, dreams for the future...
Hey, as I was sending that, my tv reminded me that "the beast has risen form the lake of fire, he is among us" thought you all should know.
i only watch nature documantries and the occasional film my girlfriend watches the most awful trash though and i think if i kill the t.v she'd be mighty upset oh and i some times watch the news especially fox i find it funny as hell i,ve even noticed them puting in subliminal messeges about terrorism on there
