Lots of us see our parents as pains in our youthful little asses, but it's kind of their job to keep as corralled. So let's forget about the negative for a while and give some lovin' to the 'rents! What are some things you love about your parents? Have they ever done anything that just blew your mind (in a good way)? What are some things that they've said that make your stop dead in your tracks and want to yell, "Hell yes, mother/father" I found this one rather amusing. I was in my room and could hear my mom on the phone with my Grandma. My birthday's soon approaching (20), and my Gran was asking what she could get me. I heard my mom tell her that I'm quite fond of wine...and then she said something like..."No, she's not of legal age, but if she's old enough to join the service then she's old enough to drink." Go mom! lol
Yea Now that I am a parent I understand why my mom was so strict lol. I think one of my favorite conversations with her was about magic mushrooms, and the coolest thing she ever did for me, besides give birth to me, was when she bailed me out of jail!
My mom went back to college while working full-time and raising three children, with little to no help from my dad. I ended up pretty much raising the other two during that time, but I realize that it wasn't her fault that I had to do everything she couldn't. It taught me responsibility, stellar multitasking skills, and the fact that if you work hard enough, you can do ANYTHING!!!
My moms been dead about 20 yrs now.... When I was 16 I noticed a 6-pack of beer in the fridge. I asked her if I could have one, I was wondering why they were they were there, she didn't drink beer. She told me she bought them for me. She said I was doing a mans job, 8 hours a day and a man should be able to put his feet up and drink a couple of beers. But, I don't want you getting all drunk and nasty, you can save that for the week-ins when you go up to the hunting cabin with your buddies. Didn't know she knew about the hunting cabin. And the beer she bought was Brown Derby at about $1.09 a six pack... .....................................Dennis....Alaskan........
The best thing my mom ever did for me was raise hell with the school systems..being sick most of the school year when I was younger, they'd tried holding me back numerous times..despite the surgeries, and numerous doctor's excuses...so she'd go and tell them that they where NOT going to hold me back that I had passed all my classes and my standardized tests and that I deserved to be promoted with my peers. This went on from the time I was in 3rd grade until I dropped out in 10th grade. And she supported my decision to drop out and go to the community college. She drove me every day when I wasn't working. But yeah she's always been the one that fought for my education..now that i'm in college things are different. But she fights just as hard for my brother. My dad..is funny..he has always been the one that tore into me..hardcore..I did something wrong I KNEW it..I'd have to choose hand or leather belt..and half the time they where equal..but the best thing my dad has done was cosign my school loans for me..even though it's not much he wasn't going to at first because he didn't want to have to pay them back..
I love my parents. There's stuff that bothers me about them, but hell. We're all human. But my family has always been pretty close, and we always try to spend time together when we can.
While I've been at odds with my parents an awful lot since hitting adolescence, I really am grateful for them and the things they have done for me. I'm 20 years old and my dad is the greatest dad ever still. It's the little things he does and the person I am now that makes him so awesome. He has given me an unconditional place to stay for the past 20 years and I'm sure if need be, it'll still be around in 20 more. I love my mom, too, though she's kind of immature, so since I've gotten older, she's become more like a sister than a mother... But I always wanted a sister, so bonus points for me! Haha.
My parents haven’t done anything specific or newsworthy but they are great parents and I’ve never really considered them a pain in the arse.
My moms done every kind of abuse to me cept sexual... I despise her so much that sometimes its unbearable. But she is my mom, with all her flaws and evils... I don't like her, but I do love her... I blame her parents for how she raised me. She did teach me how to be a good klepto!
I love my mom. We have some issues, but we're ok. She taught me some old fashioned things that I like about myself, like baking for people as a gesture of thanks and bringing someone a home-cooked meal just for the heck of it. I hate my dad. Nothing good to say about him. He's a piece if shit.
