Yeah, a lot of times people my age feel they have to look the part. Whatever that part may be. But the thing is, in high school, your clothes are what define you, it sucks but that's just the way it is (at least in my opinion). And yeah, I shop a lot in thrift stores and second hand stores etc. but what does it matter if i find a really neat top somewhere else? It really shouldn't matter. Maybe they like the lifestyle AND the fashion? Or perhaps, like so many have already said, they're on their first stepping stone to the lifestyle. That's how it went for me. First I was facinated with the fashion, so I decided to look into what created the fashion, and I found this lifestyle, and its great.

oh, I was just ribbing you. I know you can take it.
but yeah, I don't bother matching greens. I'll throw purple and green together, or brown and green, or brown and purple (it works, weirdly enough).
Most of what i collect out of the thrift is earthy or a limited range of jewel tones (sapphire, emerald, amethyst, amber- still earthy, I guess, just clearer in tone)
all else fails, wear that shirt that goes with nothing with jeans or a black skirt.

I'm not sure what constitutes a hippy. There is a huge misconception I think, yet what do I really know. Am I hippy? I'm not sure but I am very kind, I don't judge anyone and have friends from all walks of life. I love partaking of mother natures fine herbs ;) I love our earth and hate what mankind is doing to it. I love my ratty jeans and t shirts yet some times I like to dress up. I believe in peace, love and all things buetifull. Would love to hear every ones thoughts on it :)

Totally agreed [IMG] I despise labels myself. Be who you are and wear what you want. Shit I am 43 and still tryin to figure out who I really am or where I fit in lol. I do know that I don't care who you are or how you dress as long as it makes you happy. My husband is an extremely judgemental person which is a source of continuous arguement but then thats just him I guess. talk about complete opposites. he is straight as an arrow and I am an avid partier [IMG] another source of arguement. But we have been togather for 15 yrs and I accept him for who he is. Sooo he does his thing and I do mine and we try to meet in the middle. And wow I am babbeling and going off topic, sorry [IMG] I guess my point is live and let live.

how many did you cut? ;)

I trim split ends weekly, so gee would that exempt me?

(my hair is tailbone/ classic when wet length. classic means the crease where your fanny ends.)

I think being a hippie or any other sub culture for that matter is a state of mind, not a style. I have a lot of friends who dress "hippie" who so totally aren't. LOL. I also have a lot of friends who dress in whatever and are hippies. *shrug*
Me and my friends are totally different but partying makes us the same, LOL! =D

everybody talks about the hippie people around them. i'm sorry to tell you that it's been a long time since i haven't meat i hippie in my town! they don't exist anymore...or if they do..they are afraid of beeing judge by others.
it became a society where the people act the same, dress the same, talk the same,it's like everybody forgot who they are...i simply can't understant this kind of people! shouldn't all of us be the way we feel? expresing our opinions without being afraid? too many people judge and this is not their job to do!
