Hello guys! As the thread title suggest, I'm in need of some guidance and I was hoping some of you could help me. I hope to start off by giving you a brief explanation of my past.

I was born to an interesting set of parents, which I believe had a major influence on (what I think to be) my very balanced set of morals and beliefs. My parents were almost polar opposites you might say. My mother, who was the leading influence in the majority of my prepubescense believed very strongly in the paranormal, but as I recall, had very few experiences herself. Still, she had a strong belief, and lead me to be very curious myself.

My father on the other hand, is quite the opposite. He maintains a very skeptical outlook on anything involving the paranormal, but he has experienced quite a few things that would sway any other person. One such story I recall that my mother told me involved my father walking past an open closet in one of our old houses (which I saw a lot in, but I will get to the later) and seeing my neighbor standing in the closet. He did a doubletake and the closet was in fact empty. A few weeks later my father came to find out that neighbor had passed a few days prior to the aforementioned event. Whenever I asked him about the event, he affirms that he must have "just been seeing things." I can think of 3 to 4 other paranormal stories involving my father, which he also denies.

Anyhow, this put my parents in an interesting position. My mother, who is a firm believer in the paranormal has experienced very little, and in contrast my dad who is highly skeptical (although he does not outright deny the possibility) has experienced much more than any normal person.

With that being said, I have seen and experienced a lot myself; more-so in my younger years. Most of these events took place at or around one of our first houses that I lived in. The house was located in an interesting little war-time neighborhood called Normandy Park, which I believe is a homage to the beaches of normandy. The majority of these houses were built in the 40's and most of the population living in the neighborhood was elderly.

It was in this house where I experienced too many paranormal things to list here. I recall numerous times seeing people walk in my room and stand over my bed while I slept. On one occasion I even remember rolling over and feeling another body in my bed. I quickly rolled over and covered myself with the blankets until I built up enough courage to call out for my mother who was across the hall. Another such event that happened in this house actually happened to my mother. She recalled being awoken to the sounds of my stomping around up and down our hardwood hallway in her high heels (admittadly I was a bit of a goof in my younger days and would do just about anything to keep myself entertained) in the middle of the night. She got up and out of bed to go yell at me when all of the sudden she remember that me and my father were gone on a camping trip. When she finally built up enough courage to look outside her room, the hallway was empty.

I could go on with these stories, but I'll just say one more. My mother was at a meeting for people opposing the city council with a group of other adults at an old lady's house. Being bored to death, the elderly lady who owned the house gave me a few toys to go play outside in a sand pit which was right on the edge of a creek. I was playing around, killing ants I remember, when I looked up and saw a young man, around age 30 I would guess dressed in formal marine atire (I would guess, this isn't my area of expertise, but it was a dark coat with hat and dress slacks) looming above the water in the river. Needless to say I got my ass in gear and was out of there without a second of hesitation. When I got back in my mom scorned me for leaving the toys outside and the old lady was by her side when I explained to my mom what happened. It turns out the old lady had been widowed for some number of years; her husband had died serving the country in WW2.

Eventually we moved from the neighborhood, and my paranormal experiences since then have been few and far between. Thats not to say I haven't seen things (especially in our new house, which is odd), but the experiences have become less and less. Over the past few years I have nearly lost contact with my mother because she started abusing alcohol and when my parents divorced I lived with my father. Since then, my mother has been very confrontational, and I prefer not to see her anymore because all she does is scorn me and look down upon me. Anyhow, after living with my father from about age 15 until now (age 19) I too have grown very skeptical of such occurances. Was it all just my imagine?

Now having almost completed my first year of college, I feel like I'm really maturing into an adult. My mother was my primary care-giver from the day I was born until about age 12, and then from age 15 until I left to college my dad had that position. Their starkly contrasting morals, beliefs, and outlooks on life have given me what I feel is a very unique and balanced outlook on life. Finally, my year away at college has given me what I feel is the "icing on the cake" so to speak. I realize that I used to think the world was all about me, etc. etc. but now I have a very firm grasp of where I stand in the world, what I hope to accomplish, why I want to, and I'm able to acknowledge all of the rights and wrongs in myself, even if I cannot help them.

It's at this point, where I'm starting to regain my interest in any and all things paranormal. To be honest, I'm not even exactly sure what I hope to accomplish by posting this, but it feels like a good idea. I was hoping maybe some of you could see my situation and give me their outlook. I can't help but feel there's more to life than what's on the surface.

Take a look around--you've come home. What you hope to accomplish is a connection to your psychic/spiritual roots, and you've come to the right place. You obviously have a profound gift. The question now is: Where is your gift leading you? As the Good Book says: From those to whom much is given, much is also expected. Your life is ahead of you to live--open your arms and embrace what comes to you, and stop in here for a chat whenever you need some understanding and acceptance. ;) You're not alone; not by a long shot.
