Honestly the doors are a great band. Jim was a great poet/singer. Honestly i liked them before i smoked pot and i liked them even more when i smoked pot. In my honest opinion i think that jim would have loved to be a poet more than a singer. peace, love and dope -Mr. Fancy Pants
The doors were a great band. Correction, ARE a great band. They still have a lot of fans everywhere and I think unless there's some way that all drugs are wiped out (god forbid) doors fans arent going anywhere. When I first had mushrooms I listened to a bunch of their music and it is the most relaxed music I'll ever find and just made my trip unbelievable.
I have their whole discography, everything, complete matrix tapes, live albums, studio albums, you name it. Got the Doors Collection Dvd too. The music is very good but not super impressive, I just love the poetry, lyrics, philosophy. Their songs really affected me, I'm not the same as I used to be. In songs like The End, after the Oedipal (sp?) part, where the music intesifies I just start to dance like an indian, naturaly, instict, happens at school sometimes hahah.
I'm just a dude who posts on this site. I wasn't knocking LSD. SOrry if i offended you man. I was just saying that I thought Morrison's use of it for some shamanic spiritual reason was a little shallow. The times in my life when I have tripped, I just did it for kicks, not for tapping into a spiritual world. Your right, that didn't have anything to do with the music. I was just stating one of my opinions of Jim Morrison.
Spirit and Love were great bands too IMO...I listened to them at a friends house and was hooked soon after!
That is a ton of bullshit... Do you know how many covers of "Riders on the Storm" were made...and everyone just seems to forget that the DOORS were who CREATED that damn song. But instead, someone lame like Snoop Dogg does a cover of it, and is recognized for it. LAME. I hate most of new music, and I hate how people forget where the music they have today, comes from. I hate how a lot of new music isn't even written by the bands/singers themselves, they just play it...or how they lip sync..etc. What ever happened to becoming a musician, because you have TALENT and know the material?! AHH!
i have to rate the doors among my fav bands for sure and yes my fav song by them is riders on the storm, but i also like the song the unknown solider. very good antiwar song : )
I absolutely love The Doors, and Jim Morrison. I don't see how anybody could not like this band IMO. Jim was an amazing poet, and singer. They were so unique because not many bands back then had a keyboardist, and if they did.. none of them played like Ray played. The Doors as a whole is a great band, and if they are on a worst bands list, that is complete bullshit!
Blender is not even credible. You don't even have to be irritated. It's something to laugh about actually, since a lot of people consider them to be part of the top 10 best bands of all time.
its not something i wold take lightly and just laugh off, if somebody insuled jim or the doors in front of me i would be so pissed....best fuckin band of all time
I love The Doors. I rully do. They're songs... God... they stuck in me like the spears from hell- or heaven? They're music changed me, for better or for worse. I love 'Touch Me', 'Break On Through', 'The End' and... I actually like ALL of tthey're songs, really. Jim Morrison, awesome guy. He was a real poet. Sure- he was as mad as a snake, but that's what we love about him. He's a total wild child, but he had such a free soul. Rest in peace, Jim.
Mmm, I know where you're coming from there. Though I remember him saying all these things about 'a friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself' and all this stuff, y'know. I'm prolly wrong though... *shrugs*
i think i could, among many other doors fans tell u why his soul was as free as wind, but please disperse,id like u to elaborate on why you disagree.
love the doors man. the words, the music, i love it. not much to say except i wish i lived back then and got to see them live.
