About a year ago i got a ticket for not wearing my helmet on a bicycle...bullshit...but anyways i had to show up in court, pay a fine, talk to the judge and all that crap, by the way im a minor. Last weekend i got caught up by the cops and charged with posession of marijuana (the officer spelt it marijana on the ticket..fucking stoner) and i received a letter from the court today saying the charges were droppen(1st offense) and i dont have to show up anywhere. I just dont see who the hell decided you have to show up in court for a bike violation, but not for possesion. Im defiently not complaining, just curious. Do any of you know is its the same law for your state/town?
I was in Pennsylvania for my childhood, where helmets are required by law, so that doesn't seem too weird to me. I think they should be required for kids (maybe 10 and under), but probably not for adults. That's crazy that they dropped possession charges. Maybe this indicates a growing acceptance of marijuana. It doesn't take a genius of a judge to figure out that it costs taxpayers and society as a whole a lot more to send a kid to court and then to juvie than it does to let him smoke herb every now and then.
There is an enormous acceptance of marijuana in the United States, its just that everyone who doesn't accept it is a lot more vocal, anal, and powerful than those who do.
because you can die without a helmet.. and marijuana cant kill you and wipe your brains all over cement....
If they misspelled Marijuana then the ticket would be null and void. I've known people who have gotten out of a couple of parking tickets because the cop wrote the wrong number in the wrong place, or forgot to sign it. cop fuck ups are the number 1 technicality resulting in freedom. edit: there's a helmet law where i live too, but it's only for kids under 13. it's great how they make you wear a helmet right up to the point you don't ride your bike anymore.
