nah, fitz, it's the same on the west coast. big time. it's the same all over, being a solidly accepted point of masculinity and business.
A poor handshake doesn't necessarily mean someone deserves being judged, but it's often a first impression of who someone is. I can rethink an impression if an individual's behavior belies a less than impressive introductory experience but if I'm given a limp fish style handshake and an averted eye on meeting someone I'm simply not going to think very much of them. A firm handshake is a sign of respect and a marker of class.
I'm going to start flashing people when I first meet them. A sure way to be memorable, exude confidence and just a gosh darn warm welcome!
